I'm Logged Into Someone Else's Account 
This can happen if you are using a computer that is shared with other users, e.g., in a web cafe or workplace. Simply click the logout button and then login as yourself. We always recommend that you logout of shared computers at the end of your session.















































I Can't See All Of The Menu /
Images Look Too Big 
Gaire is opitmised for a screen resolution of 1024 x 768. If everything looks a little bit squashed or too small you may need to adjust your screen resolution. If you're using windows go to a blank space on the desktop and right click the mouse. Scroll down to properties and then click the settings tab. You can adjust your screen resolution here.

















































The Chat Room Doesn't Work For Me 
The chat room is powered by java. Most computers already have this installed but yours may not. Windows users may visit Sun's Java Webpage to automatically install it on their machine.

















































How Do I Contact Other Members? 

There are many ways to contact other members. If you're responding to a classified simply click the [reply] option at the bottom of the advert.

You can also click Profiles to search for members with similar interests to you.

In addition to this, every classified / forum posting has a cartoon-like avatar beside it - clicking this will bring you into that person's profile. Some profiles are more detailed than others.

If you wish to contact a member who isn't online you can reach them by clicking Members and then search. If you don't know their full name you can type in some leading characters, e.g., "th" to return a list of matching members.

In all cases your message is sent to their Gaire mail box. Likewise, if they respond to your message it will be sent back to your Gaire mail box.

















































What Happens When People Contact Me? 

All messages are sent to your Gaire mail box. From time to time you may receive email notification of messages received in your Gaire mail box. These notifications are sent to the email address you registered with.

















































I Want To Change My Email /
Password / Avatar / Profile

Simply click options to change any of these items.

Also, under general options you can disallow other members from contacting you via your profile / message board postings. Members will still be able to reply to any classifieds you have on the system.

If you wish to change your username that's no problem, simply contact us with 2 or 3 names in order of preference and we'll check if they're available.

















































How Do I Upload An Image?

To upload a new image you must have the image on your computer first of all. Remember you can only use GIFs or JPGs that are smaller than 150k. When it's uploaded, you will see the picture on your screen. Then hit [save image] under the picture.

Now that your image is uploaded you can :

Insert It Into An Advert
Goto Classifieds, click [My Ads] and then click the [Add Image] option underneath the relevant advert.

Add It To Your Profile
Click Options > Gaire Profile > Add / Edit Picture

Add It To Your Message Boards Signature
This is tricky so please read carefully : Click Message Boards then [Images], then browse your images until you find the right one. Copy the image url : with your mouse highlight everything from http://www.gaire.com/db-images/... onwards and then right click over the highlighted area and select copy.

Then click options > general options. Now click the image button - press control and v to paste your url into the dialogue box, click ok.



















































Why Was My Ad Changed / Deleted?

Every day moderators check the ads. Ads get deleted if they break the rules. the main rules are:

  • no posting ads for prostitutes, male or female allowed
  • no putting up pictures containing full frontal nudity
  • no ads for drugs allowed
  • no ads by men claiming to be women in the women's section

If your ad is deleted and you're not sure why, send an email to whoever deleted it for more information.

Your ad may be changed for similar reasons. If your ad is changed without an explanation, mail the person who did it to get an explanation.



















































How Do I Put A Picture In My Profile?

Go to options, then [my images]. The [uplaod an image]. Browse through your computer for the pic and upload it, then save it. Now go to [options] and [gaire profile]. Click on [add/edit picture]. Sorted!
