@Rev. Ziggy Love

new people were elected at the AGM. i mean you cant elect new people if they dont turn up or if they walk out.
the AGM was attended by about 40 people. the more that attend the more representative of the community it becomes - democracy.

these things are only as good as the community support behind them.

21 YO MALE FROM GALWAY

Hi Guys,
Thank you all for your interest in Galway Gay Pride. Undoubtably the publicity we have been receiving is not exactly what we would have hoped for, however, with that in mind we would like to point out in the coming days we will be announcing events to Commemorate the 40th Anniversary of Stonewall and the 20th Anniversary of Galway Gay Pride. With that in mind the Bród Ireland West Committee is focusing on the immence organisational task that is Galway Gay Pride.

The Bród Ireland West Committee is open to suggestions and ideas from any quarter and operates on an open door policy. We plan to run an open and inclusive Pride Festival and with that in mind, going forward, we intend to focus on the events that will be offered as part of Galway Gay Pride 2009.

Thanks again,
Joann Chairperson Bród Ireland West

Good work at addressing the actual issue here. Burying your heads in the sand will not solve this.

58 members and growing every day. Instead of organising events that many (including myself) will not go to, due to the lack of any maturity on both sides to resolve this issue, why don't you sort this issue out and make sure that Galways 20th Brod isn't a complete farce and embarrassment to the gay community in galway.

Hi all,
The following is an open invitation from Amanda Fahy, the creator of the Facebook profile 'Brod Ireland West - end the farce now'. Here's hoping that tonight's events will signal a mutual resolution of hostilities.
***
Please forward this message to all involved in committees elected on the 17th and 25th April 2009.

In response to concerns and requests Galway’s LGBT community, Nuala Ward, Kathy Walsh, Norman Duffy and Amanda Fahy have agreed to facilitate a meeting with all parties involved in the above committees.

Between the 4 of us, we have been actively involved in all areas of the gay community since 1986. Collectively we have experience of working with and involved in a wide range of groups and organizations, a number of which have shaped the Galway gay community.

The aim of the meeting is to create a space so that all parties who have volunteered to work on behalf of Galways LGBT community can come together respectfully and constructively in response to the requests of the community to organize a pride festival for 2009.

Out of respect for the wishes of the Galway gay community, the four of us will be at Arabica in Joyces, Knocknacarra on Monday 11th May. The meeting will commence at 7.30pm sharp. We expect the meeting to be finished by 9.00pm.

What if the other committee are not friends with that committee on facebook and don't know that the joint committee to committee meeting is on?

Maybe we should have a committee who sends communications between the April 17th committee and the April 25th committee?

Committee.

Very well written and informative. It affirms everything I have heard about the committee of the 25th. Hopefully public pressure with get the ball rolling, but good work trying to sort this whole thing out!

It seems that a Galway LGBT community meeting has been announced, Wednesday July 1st at 8p.m. in the commercial boat club, Woodquay. Spread the word.
This will be an open meeting for all. So if you have any questions, answers, thoughts, sugestions or would just like to know what the hell is going on I'd say this would be the place to be. I'm certainly going to be there.

This was just posted on the Facebook page:

For the attention of all interested parties and to the committees of the 17th and 25th,

We have a had a huge response from members of the gay and lesbian community to the current situation regarding the existence of two pride communities.

Therefore, the Galway LGBT community have decided to hold a public meeting on Wednesday next the 1st July at 8pm in the Commercial Boat Club, Woodquay to attempt to find a solution. All are welcome.

Your attendance is vital for the resolution of the situation.

Looking forward to seeing you there.
