40 YO GAY MALE FROM DUBLIN

I'm all about rediscovering the music of Mike Oldfield these days.
I was big into his stuff back in the eighties and bought this album 'Crises' out of my pocket money back then. On cassette! I know!

Anyone else into Mike Oldfield's music.

perhaps he is most famous for 'Tubular Bells', which was the theme tune from the horror flick 'The Exorcist'... but he's done loads more.

'Classic' early Oldfield - 'Portsmouth' which he created as the Blue Peter theme tune if I remember rightly??? (with some very seventies looking ladies dancing around the place)

@ Anfor - 'Moonlight Shadow' as a huge hit.. summer 84 wasn't it???

It featured Maggie Reilly as the vocallist. Reilly is a feisty red-head Scot. She's done loads of stuff with Mike Oldfield.

Yeah, it was around then... seems a long time ago.. He also used Miriam Stockly, a South African singer on stage for vocal work, you tube has her singing it as well... She was the lead singer for Karl Jenkins and Adieamus

Oh, I was a mad fan of his instrumental stuff back when I was in college. There's a long list of absolutely classic orchestral pieces:
Tubular Bells
Tubular Bells II
Amarok
Hergest Ridge
Ommadawn
Incantations
etc....

My P7 teacher was an Oldfield fan so I kinda had Tubular Bells drummed into me at an early age. I bought his new album Music of The Spheres last year and love it.

I also loved 'To France'... something about Maggie Reilly's voice that's quite haunting...

But then I guess Mike Oldfield's stuff has a kind of haunting theme to it.
