Why a PPB? Because I have an opinion?

Would you call Harney's performance in health a track record of performance?

I'd call it a refreshing, foresighted track record. Good and bad don't really cut it as definitions. At least she has the guts to stand by what she decides and follow through. She definitely has the best interests of the majority at heart. I hope she continues to be as steadfast as she has done thus far.

The PD's no longer exist nor have policy. When they existed they failed because of the insane conservative nature of their core policies.

The PD's no longer exist - Yes, that is why the title is come back PDs.

What - conservative? I think you may be confused.

Their "window dressing" policies that just differentiated them became mainstream policies, most of which were implemented - low corporation tax, deregulation etc.

I would accredit some of that to McCreevy and previously the policies of CJ Haughey. That's not to say the PDs weren't partially responsible. Still, it was a case of much too little too late. State agencies and quangos ran amok during the PDs tenure and they didn't seem too bothered as these unruly edifices sucked more and more money out of the public purse to provide very little in return. As to deregulation, well I'm not going to give credit for taking action when you really have no other recourse but to take that action and had endured years of chaos beforehand.

Look at america-just two parties. and in the uk practically just 3, although they might as well only have 2, the lib dems are so ignored. why do people always go with the same old same old.

Ultimately, regardless of any attempts at two fingers to the status quo, parties will boil down to left and right; even those 'in the centre' will be slightly more one way than the other. 3 parties in the UK makes no difference, the 3rd will remain a minority because of the principles of politics - the electorate will sway one way or the other - there simply is no alternative. What is lacking, more importantly, is not the political direction but the charisma and strength, honesty and conviction to make radical changes. Also, the ability to convince a fickle voting public to grit their teeth to battle through to get out the other side. Let people stay and prove themselves. We need experienced, reliable figures.

No, there is lots of talk going around - he was able to build up a national base of 'Ireland for Europe' - this is something that he can actually use to build a party given that some of the initial grassroots contacts have already been set up - there is an 'Ireland for Europe' book being launched in March

'Ire for Europe', never heard of it. Cox is out of politics for about 5-years. I highly doubt he wants to get back into active politics. I'd say he's happy enough with the book deals, company directorships etc.

Sorry, I often equate conservative with right wing.
I should have said that "right wing" or "borderline fascist".
And the point I was making about them being gone is that they HAVE NO POLICY. If the party was recreated it would most likely be new members and new policy, if you saw some of their ideology as useful why not use it as part of a new party instead of clinging to one that failed.
