From what I've heard, its to do with a dispute between the actors union, equity, and RTE. Something to do with RTE not wanting to pay the correct royalties for online viewing as set down by equity.

The Frontline, Primetime and the Late Late aren't dramas and as such actors and their fee aren't involved.

Eastenders, Madmen, even Killinaskully etc are all dramas but are made by companies outside of RTE. The dispute is between RTE and equity. When RTE buy in Mad Men or Eastenders etc, the royalty fees would be built into the price they pay for the show as a package. With Fair City they make it themselves and as such the actors are on the RTE payroll. And they don't want to pay extra to the actors for online broadcasts which Equity aren't happy about. So it was taken off RTE player till an agreement is reached.

This is what I read anyway, a few weeks back in an OP ED piece on the web. Can't remember what site I read it on.

It's a pity they still don't because Im going to miss Yvonne & Connies wedding episodes next week. It's repeated the following day at 3.00pm. As I work in hotel & catering I have different shifts at work e.g morning & evening. RTE should really try and sort this problem as soon as possible.

In an unprecedented act of humanitarian kindness RTE management feel they have inflicted this braindead drivel on a hapless populace for far too long and to international acclaim have pulled it from the website. Rumours that past episodes were being used by the CIA on torture victims hastened the decision.

That's true they play Fair city with Barney music in the background, RTE have applied to the CIA for artistic rights and royalties, its so effective the prisoners where begging for water boarding.

That's soooooo 1990. You'd have to, like, handle an actual tape, and press buttons. I can't believe Yvonne & Connie didn't check Frodo's shifts before planning their wedding. Such cows!

Well whatever suits your budget but yeah a DVR would be best. NTL and SKY both have them as add-ons for their various tv packages.
