Burning the churches would be a pointless act. Some churches are truly beautiful buildings that can be put to other, non religious uses.

Were you behind the St. Mel's cathederal fire in Longford Frodo?

In what world could it be considered a good thing?

Exactly, it's a place of worship, place to feel safe, place to pray for many many people!

Disgusting!

Was there any conclusion or outcome in the investigation on that fire? There was a guy seen around the church that night in a tight mini and heels and a pink blouse. Was it Frodo?

Being religious isn't insane or wrong.

Even the Soviet Communists didn't burn down churches.

I think the burning down of buildings is a disgrace. there are other ways to protest.

Burn all churches to the ground as long as no-one gets hurt. If they could get away with it, many religious organisations would have no problem with burning down gay clubs etc.

So? Surely we ought to practice a higher form of existence... where we don't feel the need to snuff out (or burn out) the lives of those who disagree with us.

@. Frodo I think the plummeting church attendance figures and mass ignoring of church teachings on virtually everything send the message strongly enough.

Sure, and let's burn down everything thing else old, and dig up the artisans that created these pieces of history and art, and burn their bones too. FFS this is right up there w/ the Taliban destroying the giant statues of Buddha, because they were offended by them. Nevermind world heritage. Not a big fan of religion here at all BTW.

This is the Centenary of the Portuguese separation of Church and State.

I have admired them for what they did 100 years ago, along with the French, Germans and Russians, among a few noble others for some time now.

a brief snippet

I love that they didn't burn the churches, but sold or rented them after they confiscated them.

Destroy the Church?
By all means!

Destroy the church?
Never!

There is nothing wrong with the building...

...just put Glory Holes in the confessionals?

that's if the Church hasn't beat us to it!

I have to say, the church is finished after the present older generation have passed on! We should start planning on what to do with the buildings, when we take them over!
