***UPDATE - date changed due to unavailability at climbing centre***

Hey all,

A couple of us are interested doing some rockclimbig so we've decided to go bouldering in Gravity Centre in Inchicore. I tought I'd put it up here and see if anyone else is interested.

Bouldering is an easy way to mess about with climbing without needing much in the way of experience or equipment. It's low level climbing (the walls go up a couple of metres over padded floors) so no harnesses or rope knowledge is needed. There are colour coded holds on the wall and you try to climb to the top or from side to side either using all holds, or, if you fancy more of a challenge, a specific colour (each colour has a different difficulty level) More details on the centre are here...

http://www.gravityclimbing.ie/

Cost is €5 to register with the wall one off) and and €8 per visit. Shoe hire is €3.50 (recommended).. so would be €17 first time round and €12 after. They also have an introduction session for €20 which includes everything above and half an hour coaching on the basics of climbing, which could be an idea.

We're planning on Saturday September 22nd at 4pm. All welcome, just post here or PM me so we can organise to meet up. It should be a fun afternoon. Let me know if you want the induction course as the centre has to be notified in advance.

Attendees:
Sakura
Zach (induction)
Paul
Streetfighter
Kneel (induction)

Spectators:
Horatiok

Cheers for the sticky

Just a quick note... Climbing can sound scary and tough but there are routes that are as easy as a ladder, it really is for any level. And it's all near the ground so don't let fear of heights put you off!

@Butters, Its not the falling you have to worry about, its the sudden stop.
@Streetfighter, Ive always wanted to give this a go, but I would need to do the induction session as well.

Cheers for the sticky!

Also...just to say that I can just about manage going up stairs and walking in general without falling over but I still really enjoy climbing. It's fun and not as difficult as you would think.

Come one, come all

I'm way too accident prone, it would be too much of a risk that I'd end up in a Touching the Void type scenario.
