Hey Frodo.

They may yet return to heavier recordings. Hope so at least. Though I too tend to fall out of listening to some bands for a time. Nice to mix it up.

Opeth used to do a good live show. Haven't seen them in a few years.

They are very good live, that's for sure. I think I've seen them 3 times, including an acoustic set here in Frankfurt together with Anathema.

I'm off to Munich to see D.R.I. in 9 days!

Can't freaking wait, they've been one of my favourite bands since I was 14. And back then I was completely obsessed and would listen to almost nothing else. Haven't seen them since 2013 and that was a short set at Wacken festival, now it will be their own gig.

I almost didn't go because of my financial situation but I know I'd never forgive myself for missing this in the long run, so I just decided to throw caution to the wind and book my tickets. Gig and bus tickets from Frankfurt came to around 50 euro. I plan to couchsurf in Munich so no accomodation costs.

Just will have to go easy on the bar beers (supermarkets can cost as little as 50 cent a can, or less) and buy food in supermarkets etc and then it shouldn't cost me much more than just being in Frankfurt.

Waking up to the beautiful sounds of Sólstafir.

From directors Bowen Staines ( www.dontpaniciceland.com) & Gunnar B. Guðbjörnsson ( www.Sir.is), comes a new project for Iceland's masters of psychedelic metal, Sólstafir. The video is for the song, "Fjara", off Sólstafir's chart-topping double album, "Svartir Sandar".

ohhhh this is gorgeous..... so beautiful and gentle....reminds me of wishbone ash... ohhh and the only defect is the detuned note in the coda of this tune... its irritating even though its planned....

More Opeth in this post. Clean vocals and light music this time.

While Metal (umbrella term) is not as palatable for some folks, I usually give this song as an example that death metal bands like Opeth give testament to themselves as musicians in that they don't limit their endeavours to wall-of-sound heaviness and at times tribute the kind of good rock music that also inspired them.

If you like 70s progressive rock ballads, then give this little tune a shot.

I saw that the other day. Very impressive, though I think doing the face on her body looks stupid. They should have just drawn Eddie's body instead.
