Just wondering... On Gaire, are there more people who love Christmas than the bah humbug types?

What is your general view of Christmas?

Me? It's meaningless.

It has no religious meaning for me.
I just like the fun of giving gifts and getting friends and family together for a party.
It's a nice time of year.

I love Christmas. All my family (immediate) are always around and it feels like old times...love it.

As well as that there's the lovely dinners...the sweets...the family bonding over a game of Monopoly for about 10 hours...pretty sweet.

Christmas is of course way over hyped, but society needs some sort of festive period during the middle of the gloomy winter to alleviate the darkness and bad weather. Winter without any sort of Christmas would be unbearably depressing IMO.

That said, the hype and cheer of Christmas can make those who have no money, family or friends to enjoy Christmas with feel even worse.

i do indeed.and that my friend makes me richer than any man, woman or child on this planet.

i like the whole family thing. gettin hamered with me ma and me brother is always a good laugh. and to see their faces wen they open their presents is great. i just hate he idea behind it, the hype up of it and the way it drags on for so long.

How could you not like christmas? It's just great to have a few days of doing nothing when its cold, dark and gloomy, catching up with friends and family and eating more than is sensible. OK, there are annoying bits, the family dramas, the brother in laws to be tolerated and the fixed smiles to be held on receiving a present that says more clearly than anything else that the giver really, really doesn't know you. Regargless of all these, I will enjoy christmas this year, as i do every year.

ah its weird isnt it?? i knew my eldest was bordering on not believeing last year but he said it to me a couple of weeks ago that he knew santy wasnt real.he said christmas didnt feel the same this year. i noticed how his christmas list changed though.hes far more aware of what hes asking for this year.it feels really strange.
