Losing Weight Thread

# 1 : Wednesday 5-8-2009 @ 22:31

I am currently working on my weight and am sure there are others who are also in the same boat as I am in.

There are many slimming clubs with their own systems, which is why I am not calling this the weightwatchers thread.

So... wanna share?

I lost a load of weight in a very short time, size 22 to a 12. It's started to creap back on over the past 6 months. Was talking to my doctor and he said that cause I lost the weight because I was literally not eating at all now that I am eating, albeit in moderation and well, my body is clinging onto everything.

The only way is to exercise with a good diet. He recommended 6 x 40 min walks a week and walks means at such a level that it is difficult to hold a normal conversation.

Now I'm not going to do 6, there's just no way but I'm going to try to start with 2 and build it up from there.

I lost over a stone when I got a virus that made me nauseous so it was difficult to eat, wouldn't recommend it though. Diets seem to be a complete waste of time,by cutting out high calorie foods like kebabs, chocolate, crisps, the pure evil that is coca cola, anything deep fried etc, that can make a major difference,so many people buy salads for example, then drown it in that 80's horrific calorific throwback, mayonaisse.Know the enemy and avoid it. Try vinegar as a substitute, look how thin christ on the cross was after it.

I'm on the same boat. I had a sickness recently that resulted in a huge weightloss. So instead of looking gaunt for the summer i've started drinking this hospital grade sustagen that helps put meat and muscle back on yer bones. Good times.

Only in four shakes a day.

I absolutely love vinegar, detest mayonnaise.

Bread, crisps and potatoes are apparently big no-nos.

Anything is a yes yes but in moderation and with the right balance. Just make sure you learn your calorie intake and ensure your calorie burn is more than what you are taking in. (I should go to the practice what you preach thread )

Reminds me of this horrendous diet...

http://www.faddiet.com/amputationdiet.html

Procedure Estimated Immediate Weight Loss

Haircut 2-6 ounces
Drastic Haircut / Headshave 4-12 ounces
Trim Body Hair 1 oz. (ladies) 3 oz. (men) 24 lbs (Greek men)
Remove a wart 1 oz.
Take a diuretic 1-3 pounds (temporary)
Take a laxative 1-2 pounds (temporary)
Colon Therapy / Take an Enema 2-3 pounds (temporary)
Poop 0-2 pounds (temporary)
Run a marathon on a hot day 3 lbs (women), 5 lbs (men) (temporary)
Amputate your arm 10-25 lbs (way too permanent)
Amputate your leg 15-45 lbs (again, not advised)
Vascetomy none.
Take a big pee. up to 1.5 pounds
Take a big dump up to 2.5 pounds
Go barefoot 1-2 pounds
Go Naked 1-8 pounds (summer vs. winter)
Contact lenses vs. Glasses 0.3 pounds
No liquids all day 1-2 pounds
No food all day 2-3 pounds
No salt all day 0-1 pound
Don't wear underwear 1 oz. (thong)-2 lbs. (granny panties)
Exfoliating face wash nothin.
Liposuction 10 lbs maximum per surgery
Donate a kidney 3 pounds.

I suppose that I should probably take a little bit of space to warn you that amputating a limb is not really a wise way to lose weight. In fact, almost all of the above suggestions are very poor.

Apart from the health risks of being overweight, it also can bring with it a lowering of self-image, self-esteem and even a sense of isolation. By being fat, you have fewer opportunities in general.
