Casual sex does not qualify as a "relationship" even if technically it relates 2 people for a short period of time.

You can have all the casual sex you like and that's grand. However, as Blah pointed out, that is not test driving for relationships.

I haven't! I have had loads of sex!, but never casual sex. It just never appealed to me when opportunities presented or I was in a relationship at the time. All of my exes cant believe that I havent, because I am totally open about sex, and I open to being propositioned! I dont react with 'how dare you' or shock or I guess judgement. I think I just feel it is too indulgent, I am not curious enough to invest that much of myself in a casual manner.... I've never really analysed it.

Yes. However, I am not only talking about sex. To embark on a relationship means that emotions are invested. to find out that your emotions were 'test driven' and tossed aside... that's not good.

Blah, are you talking about the initial stages of a relationship, where you are trying to establish if the person in question is a potential or possibility re partner. For example, there are a lot of things about the person you like, but maybe a lot of things you dont like, and you are trying to establish if there is any possibility of geting passed the dislikes....

But have you not had casual sex then a relationship developed from the casual sex.

That is not test driving. It is building a relationship and fine tuning it.
You would not do that for 2 relationships at the same time.
You can test drive 2 or more relationships at the same time though.

Could you give examples (personal experience is fine) of the difference betwen the two. Because I feel that is swaying towards 'open connections' which are definately casual.

Well then No I don't test drive 2 or 3 to see which I like best I am not that hot, I am lucky to test out the one model every now and again.
