Perhaps the last two budgets have resulted in the Civil servants who call the shots, having the 'Fuck 'em' attitude?

Even the fairly simple decision as to whether the schools could close or not was made a bags of.

One clear decision followed by an announcement from the DES publicised by all papers and TV/radio stations? Cost nil.

Fudged 'we don't know, sure make up your own minds' nonsense from the Department, followed by individual schools spending large amounts of their already cut admin budgets on telephone and text charges contacting parents and staff.

Thank God for Moodle - we can continue setting and correcting work for the exam classes in our school.

In Germany its get to -14 and its OK, it just there is no common sense in this country, everyone passes the buck, the councils said there is no grit, however there are quarries all over Ireland with excess grit as there is no building taking place, yet not one quarry was approached, Businesses are loosing big time as people cant walk around or drive. If I owned a pub, shop or hotel etc I would go out and buy some salt and throw it over the footpath outside my shop and I'd be going crazy.

The minister of Transport is not taking any responsibility he is on holidays.

i was heading to work this morning and there were two swans in the grand canal and the water around them was very icy. felt really sorry for them but i suppose they can fly a little to get onto the bank.
walkin home today the canal was completely frozen over - dont know where the swans have gone but hope they are ok.

Sexkitten if you are serious... move your bed to the room where the fire is located. Build it up and keep it in all night.

Sorry to hear that SexKitten . Have you any transport other than motorbike ?
My water is gone too but I have a good supply of bottled water and I got water for flushing and washing from a nearby stream . You sound very isolated where you are .
