Another class subtitled TV series is the Parisian police & judicial drama Spiral (Engrenages). There are 2 series broadcast so far with subs, each with eight episodes. Again, the lead police officer is female.

And series 3 starts next Saturday night on BBC4. Can't wait!

Thanks for the tip, I didn't notice that one, if its half as good as the killing it should be something to look forward to.

I liked the English version of Wallander with Kenneth Branagh but couldn't watch the original, it was just too weird. The big long pauses and endless shots of depressing scenery bored the hell out of me. I had the same problem with The Killing.

I don't watch American detective shows but I love Waking the Dead and the older series of Silent Witness, they are way more fast paced and probably very unrealistic as it gives the impression a serious crime can be solved in two hour long episodes. The Killing made police work look as boring as it really is.

Just watched LL Divo

The story of Italian Prime Minister Giulio Andreotti, who has been appointed Prime Minister, by the President of the Republic, seven times since 1946. The narration spans the period since the seventh election of Andreotti as Prime Minister of Italy in 1992, the failed bid to the presidency of the Italian Republic, Tangentopoli bribe scandal (which he managed to escape), until the trial in which he was accused of collusion with the Mafia.

Its amazing such an amazing character, an amazing film. But Italian subtitles come at you very fast, but the political wisdoms, the plot and the intrigues of Italian politics of that recent era keeps you there/

9/10

Always loved Italian cinema, but always chose those with English subtitles, much easier to understand,in my opinion.

Except for films made in Ireland, wouldn't all other films be foreign ?
