The Beast Of Baltinglass

I am sure all is aware that convicted rapists/attempted murderer Larry Murphy was released yesterday. I seen the live release on TV3 and then the taxi conveying him was pursued by motorbikes, to find out where he was going and later, it all culminated in the evening with a mob gathering outside a halfway house in Coolock with a Sinn Fein councillor acting as a media spokesman. Noone knows if he was at that particular halfway house for certain, its was all fed from rumour. What the mob intended to do, I don’t know.

I believe Larry Murphy is a dangerous sexual predator and he should be monitored, but by the Guards, not by a mob, or the media.
So I ask are the Irish to stupid to have a Megan type law here?

There will just be people going to jail for hurting someone for silly reasons. Yes we should know if there is a paoedohile in our area but I am not sure what good it would do.

Maybe its just the coverage of this particular case, he is dangerous, I have little doubt, but today there was a picture of his brother on page 2 of one of the papers, what was that doing there.

Well thats not right, I do feel very sorry for the families of these people they don't deserve to be treated like criminals just because they look after their own family.

I actually have experience of this. A guy who worked in a local pub and was friendly with my Mum and Dad turned out to be a convicted child abuser. He continually raped his nephews over a period of four years and got seven years. When he left prison he moved to Dublin and just got on with life but he got found out somehow and Evening Herald journalists were all over the town trying to get the dirt on him. He lived with a Finnish girl who worked in Dunnes and people spat at her and called her names as if she knew anything about any of this. It was awful for her she had no clue that anything was odd about him.

I feel so sorry for his family and his victims. He is an evil man but is also a very clever man. Had the 2 men who had not disturbed him for the crime he was jailed for, his victim would be dead.

I actually agree with the OP. The Sum campaign is a cheesy sales ploy instead of actually an awareness campaign! Cynical but true i think!

I really don't know enough of this Larry Murphy to make an informed opinion, unlike all the red top tabloid fearmongers but it looks like mob justice is one of the end results. I can understand why no community would want this person in their midst.

From the little I've heard and read, Murphy is a very dangerous man and I think his prison sentence was far too lenient. I've also heard that Gardai have questioned him on the disappearance of a number of young women in the Dublin/Kildare/Wicklow and Carlow areas over the past 20 odd years.

One thing is for sure - this story is taking attention away from the dire straits of the economy and its mishandling by Zanu-FF. I'm sure the gubberment don't mind the distraction.

Larry Murphy is 45 apparently, he doesn't look it.
I was wondering how old he was because i didn't think he looked old enough to have been a suspect in the disappearance of so many women so long ago.
Anyway, i hope no one offs the bastard. If he is responsible then someone needs to get it out of him. I reckon if they gave me an hour alone with the cunt id find out everything he has done since his 10th birthday.

It sounds like enough u've tried and gotten nothing! He sounds like a right sociopathic bastard... If he thinks he's in the right, so much harder to get a confession out of him

Quite frankly if it leads to mobs, general lawlessness, public lynchings, red top and Sinn Fein spokes persons, yes it is.
