Recommend A Television Programme

Anyone else watching The Returned? It's a French horror drama running on Channel 4 at the minute, about a town where people suddenly come back from the dead.

It's really great. Well worth a watch. And, as foreign language TV goes, much better than the overlong THe Killing.

The first few episodes are all up on 4OD.

I love that as soon as one mystery is solved, two more come along. Like this week, we found out what happened Julie but now we're even more confused about Victor the creepy kid and whatever scar Lena has.

The good thing about it is that there are only eight (or possibly 6) episodes in the first season so it's not going to go all Lost on us.

Yes, I mentioned it a little while back. It's very good so far. Comparisons with Forbrydelsen/The Killing are premature (and arguably pointless considering the number of foreign language series broadcast in recent years) but it's definitely worth the watch.

I was bored at first but its starting to hook me. Of course these kinds of shows can all go wrong, either giving a dodgy explanation, or giving no explanation and giving a lame "everyone can interpret the show in whatever way they want" ending.

Its getting progressively more disturbing with the rotting thing in the bin, the insects, the growing scar etc. I hope it doesn't end up as an all out gore fest.

The biggest mystery for me is whatever's happening at the dam.

Not into Hannibal - just think its a bit silly.

"The fall" though is great!

Silly would be the last word that I would use to describe it.

I found it disturbing and brutal, with an underlying mystery.

I'm loving World's Greatest TV Shows with Daisy Donovan. She's travelled to Brazil, India and Middle East to review and or take part in their top tv shows.

First three parts are on 4OD and the final part is next Monday when she goes to South Korea.

The final series of Luther borders on the exquisite so far. It may be as daft as a brush warehouse but it is made so lovingly. Scene after scene is beautifully put together. As hokum goes, it's a joy to watch.

Cross Talk on Russia Today channel has very interesting and combative debate (especially on Middle East).

Channel 4's four part drama Run kicked off tonight. On the basis of the first episode, it's excellent British kitchen sink drama. Olivia Colman was masterful as the traumatised mum and Neil Maskell (Arby from Utopia) was perfect as the thuggish ex-husband. The story was simple but perfectly told. It continues Tomorrow through Thursday.

Great stuff - her estranged hubby plays a really good psycho in all his roles - looking forward to tonight's story

I was just about to recommend Run as well. It's a bit like a grittier version of One Night from last year.
