Its like youre on a loop track or something.

Your right, it's nice o have non-scene stuff. That's why there are groups to go running, play football or rugby, act, do adventure sports, dine, socialise, hike, read books, have coffee..... Every single one of which I would probably join before DIGS, mainly because of your attitude!

Tell me this - I trust the public lavatories are up to standard in the Gibson? The only reason being I'm a bit particular about standards in all aspects of my life.

I really don't see the purpose of holding this group in a hotel bar. Surely that goes against everything the group stands for. Why not hold it in a cafe or, better yet - Outhouse? There's loads of non-drinking social groups that gather in Outhouse as it is and I'm sure they'd welcome more.

By the way, you say you want to get off the scene. The thing is that the scene isn't just 4 gay bars. The scene is the community and the people in it. So you'll never truly have a gay gathering 'off the scene', whether you like it or not.

No - The scene is gay bars and clubs - That is the general definition of the scene

What about gay club nights in straight venues? Or events like AMI? I would certainly call AMI as being on the scene but I wouldn't count Olympia in the same definition. Gay people gathering there make it 'the scene'.

My personal understanding of 'the scene' is that it refers to gay pubs, clubs and club nights only.

I'd agree with the scene being the clubs etc and the community being the wider aspect of it all.

Either way the poster involved does come off as rude and not very inclusive of people who do go on the scene.

Its not somewhere I'd like to go.

I have to say I'm always a bit wary of groups or people coming up with the whole "we're not part of the scene thing". I frequently find them to be exactly the same as everyone else on or off the scene, but with more of an attitude problem. Admittedly this group could be different.

You come on to promote a group (that I like the idea of) with his attitude and that's what you'll get.

I love the idea. You have to agree though that he isn't handling questions and criticism very well.

I guess the best thing though is for people to attend and report back.

Ohmydogs attitude rubbed people up the wrong way. He doesn't even represent the group though.
