Episode 6 (Golden Crown) was terrific - all bets were off at that point in the book.

Couldn't believe the title scene of that episode...soo cool! Can't believe there's only 2 episodes left of the season, there's so much to get done it seems, and they've barely scratched the surface of whetever's happening over the wall!

Peter Dinklage is fantastic

I've only watched 4 eps but Peter Dinklage as the dwarf brother is excellent. So is Maisie Williams who plays the spirited wee girl Arya Stark.

Aiden Gillen is good as ever.

But Jack Gleeson who plays the weedy dickhead boy Joffrey - I think his performance is terrible. Or maybe he's badly directed. But his one-dimensional acting would suit a bit-part in a Harry Potter flick or otherwise on children's telly, not grown-ups'.

And another thing: the whole parallel plot about the chick with the blonde pigtails who marries a klingon: yawn! It's like she's Xena or something. That whole storyline is too like children's telly, sexy bits apart.

Overall, it's not a very subtle drama. For example, at the start of Ep 4 there was a dream sequence with Bran walking around. Anyone could tell it was a dream sequence. Then they cut to Bran's bed and his eyes opening. Then his nanny goes, "Oh, the boy has been dreaming".

So they really, really spell things out at times.

That said, I'm enjoying it.

Just watched 3 eps of this and I am getting into it now. There is enough happening in it to keep me guessing and interested.

Im going to stick on episode 9 now in a minute, once my vision returns and the room stops spinning.
Ive been loving it so far, it really caught me off guard. I was getting fed up waiting for the next seasons of the few series i follow so its good to have something in between to break up the time.

Total legend, but Tyrion has all the best lines.

Shaggar: How would you like to die, Tyrion, son of Tywin?
Tyrion: In my own bed, at the age of 80, with a belly full of wine and a girls mouth around my cock.

I did like Finch from Harry Potter as Walder Frey. He's exactly as I pictured him.

I was shocked at the end of last night episode and a bit pissed off too! I though the series was to be built around Ned Stark?!! I liked him as a character. I though he was in it for the long haul. I'd imagine there will be many a person not tuning back in now that he's gone.

Many? Really? I'd say there'll be many more that'll decide to watch on the basis of what happened. It makes it different to every other fantasy epic out there. The big, strong, noble patriarch dying! Brilliant!

And trust me; the books only get better without him.

I couldn't believe it either. Right until the sword fell I though sorthing would happen to call off the execution. But I think it was a masterstroke (pardon the pun). I had thought it would be lanister vs stark to put the right person on the throne. Now this is happened, with nobody knowing that the son is a bastard, the Starks are the enemy and I have no idea how the series will pan out. That death has me hooked on season 2 and probably the books as well. And all of this with the bad stuff across the wall playing a subplot at the moment...

An our new ponce-bastard king... What a prick!!!

My housemate I was watching it with was certain a raven would arrive with news about Jaime right up to the sword falling. He couldn't believe it. And like Streetfighter, is hooked till next year. It makes it all so unpredictable and real now.
