Remember the movie Living in Oblivion? From the nineties, it starred Steve Buscemi as a film director trying desperately to make an indie movie.

It was also the screen debut of Peter Dinklage, who got the best scene where he loses his shit with the director over a dream sequence:

Even though Ep 9 was spoiled for me, it was still great.

I don't like that the eunuch is played in a stereotypical camp gay way, as though no testicles = fairy.

But that's my only real grievance.

The Wall is a great concept and I find it enchanting.

Miss Pigtails and her storyline is really taking shape now. I still think it was very badly portrayed at the start and Xena & Co just seemed tedious. But finally some depth has been added to that part of the yarn in the last few eps.

Still loving Dinklage and Williams.

My only concern now is that loads of this story will not be wrapped up in Series 1 and we'll just get a big To Be Continued . . . instead of any real resolution.

... oh dear, you know 7ish books are planned?

Don't know too much about the books but always imagined that it'd be Lord of the Rings style... kinda small plots endings... Say maybe they finally get on the boat or decide to cross into the North but since we're only one seventh of the way into the story, things would threads unravel for a while yet before they start being drawn together.

That George Martin should stick to producing The Beatles.

Btw, I'd love to beat Joffrey to death with a baseball bat. I suppose I have to admire a series brave enough to make a young boy such an arsehole. The characterisation is very one-dimensional though.

One of the better child roles / performances was the boy who is the son of the mad sister in the eyrie. He was very well done, a very original and bizarre/sick child character.

Saw you question the Joffrey prat before. According to the bookers (word?) the actor plays the character perfectly, so it is just written a bit one dimensionally. I hated him in everyway until last week, now that he's made civil war a defeinite, i'm interested in the relation between him and his family. He may have to grow into his role very quickly!

The eyrie son is class. His manner and the mothering are pure painful to watch in the way that they're supposed to be!

My Mother (65) has been hooked on the show since watching the first two episodes with me (she has also followed X Files, original Trek and the new film,Fringe,Lost and DrWho since forever) and she is also a fan of this particular actor.
She rang me as soon as the show ended and was quite, quite upset.
She kept asking me to stop messing and tell her that the character wasn`t dead.

I think this all proves how masterfully done the story (books and show) is,this event creates the world from now on and the fact that it provokes such reactions tells us a lot about ourselves and society.
A calm, brave, noble fatherfigure seems to be something we crave and when lost.....well, as the next season will show everything goes completely to shit.
Calm, brave, noble people rarely become leaders and when they do it never lasts.
But still we hope.

you have to hand it to grrm - not many plot twists get that kind of reaction.

Don't worry. Sean Bean has about the same amount of screen presence dead as he has alive.
