I wonder what "people" you are referring to? I know gaming is big busines, but it's not something I am interested in or know much about, except my flight "stimlator" as my godson used to call it.

We are all "ignorant" about many things, even you, as by definition anything about which we don't know we are ignorant. For instance, I know quite a few Tabla terms, all the words to Puff The Magic dragon and what Aleatory music is. Just becasue you might not know all or some of that means you just don't know it, rather than meaning you are ignorant.

Did not mean anything by it.I was merely referencing your post in the slightest of ways to comment.
I have noticed that many people can be dismissive of newish media, preferring a canonical approach to cultural items, the old high art / low art argument.
If you post expect reference to your posts and not deference.
No offence meant,I don`t tend to go out of my way to argue or offend people,I`ll leave that to the people who like to pick apart everyones posts for amusement and self aggrandisement.

Excellent - will be great to play an old-style RE game again.

I only played it for the first time late last year and its aged splendidly. Alexia is still my favourite RE villian by far!

Why not remake RE2? It has been rumoured for ages.

This is pretty cool I guess, I've never played Code:Veronica but I've heard mixed things about it. RE4 is just brilliant though.

God you are tiresome... why do you bother with this pseudo-intellectual bullshit?

I really liked Code Veronica - it was a proper return to form for the series I felt and recaptured much of the gothic horror feel to the game that had been lost in the 2nd and 3rd games.

Its incredible to think Resident Evil has been around so long.

I'm a huge fan and loved Resi 4 and Code Veronica is one of my faves of the series. It did seem to capture a lot of the elements of the originals.

Sadly Resident Evil 5 was disappointing. It's just shoot em up now, which isn't what made the series such a big hit. I'd love to see them recapture that suspense of impending doom that stayed with you all through Resi 1. Not to mention the Co-Op controls were dodgy to say the least.

I do think res 5 added a lot of good new things to the series. The controls were much better (for the pc at least), but the atmosphere was sadly lacking. Too many wide open spaces and not a great enough sense of needing to conserve ammunition and health pickups - gone were the claustrophobic environments and sense of growing dread as to what lay behind the next corner.

I hated the forced co-op in Resi 5. It totally ruined the single player experience and the real-time inventory management was a pain. I much prefer tetris-style suitcase mode.

Update : they are scheduled for Autumn as two separate downloadable games. CAPCOM BRINGS THE AWARD-WINNING RESIDENT EVIL® 4 AND RESIDENT EVIL CODE: VERONICA® X INTO THE HD ERA

San Mateo, CA — March 24, 2011 — To kick off the 15th anniversary of Resident Evil®, Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games today announced that the highly acclaimed Resident Evil® 4 and Resident Evil Code: Veronica® X will be released as downloadable titles for the Xbox 360®video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. Scheduled for release this fall, both titles have been enhanced with upgraded visuals as they make their debut on high-definition consoles.

Resident Evil 4 , which received numerous “Game of the Year” awards when it debuted and currently stands as one of the best-reviewed games of all time with an incredible 96 ranking on MetaCritic, challenges you to experience it all over again with support for trophies and achievements along with the visual upgrades.

As Leon Kennedy, players will explore a town overrun by cultists, mutants and mind-controlled villagers as they unravel the mystery of Resident Evil 4. Also, this release will contain all the bonus content available in previous versions of Resident Evil 4, including the Separate Ways epilogue.

In Resident Evil Code: Veronica X, the year is 1998, three months since the total destruction of Raccoon City and Claire Redfield is still in search of her missing brother Chris. While investigating an Umbrella facility in Paris, Claire is captured and transported to the remote Rockfort Island, where she awaits her death.

Then an inexplicable air raid hits the island, and though this frees Claire, it also accidentally releases t-virus samples and B.O.W.s, which thrust Claire back into the world of survival horror once again. Claire teams up with a fellow inmate Steve Burnside, but insane island commander Alfred Ashford and his evil sister Alexia set their sights on ending the duo with their sick and demented games.

The Resident Evil franchise, which pioneered the horror genre in video games, has sold over 45 million units since 1996 and spawned a series of successful motion pictures that have grossed over $750 million worldwide. The Resident Evil brand has also expanded into action figures, comic books, novels, apparel, beverages and more. As part of the 15th anniversary, Resident Evil fans will get a chance to celebrate the past, present and future of the franchise with exclusive apparel and merchandise, in addition to games like Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil Code: Veronica X, Resident Evil®: The Mercenaries, Resident Evil®: Revelations and other surprises.

I love RE5. I had a great time co-op'ing it with a friend.

One of the things I love about the series is the absolutely bat-shit insane storyline. If you actually think about the logic and motivations of most of the characters in the series, it's quite hilarious. I mean, Umbrella (and Wesker) just bloody love creating monsters by injecting people and animals with random compounds created in labs, then taking cells from those monsters and injecting them into more people/animals to see what happens.

And don't get me started on the Spencer Mansion or the RCPD Police Headquarters...

The Resident Evil remake on Game Cube was awesome, although it retained that spin / turn thingy which always seemed odd to me. Did add to the panic though! I have all the rest but have only ever completed one, four and five. Actually Resident Evil 4 twice 'cause it's ace.
