Is it really a surprise? Sad and all that it s that someone wasted their lives to drugs, she must not have been happy here. It was her choice though, people know what they are risking with drugs, they are not mentally incompetent. It's a Russian roulette and she lost, but no one pointed the gun to her head but herself.

Not yet

I see a certain nightclub promoter is staking his claim to her carcass... sickening.

Carcass? She's not a slaughtered bullock.

Well, I don't see how anyone is surprised. I expected this sooner rather than later.

Very sad. Boy, did she live her music.

she has the death she sought.

What a stupid and ignorant statement, even for you blah .

The woman had an illness which most probably resulted in her death. Addiction is an illness and is triggered by an unhappy state of mind. She was probably well aware that the lifestyle she was living had the capability to end her life. But such were the power of her addictions and the triggers that she was incapable of saving herself.
That is the real tragic aspect of this story.
It is all too easy to cast judgement on an addict when we do not know what pain and emotional suffering they are going through.
If an addict was to be found dead on o Connell street, Would you also say he/she has the death they sought?.
She was unwell and not capable of taking care of herself.

@ Erytheis We all have our issues - I'm glad that most seem to be responding with compassion - as opposed to the tone of your posting.

That we do, and we all have our choices, and she chose to do drugs and it killed her.
I have compassion for her family, for the people in Oslo, for the gays being arrested in Ghana, but my opinion that she was a druggy and knew it could kill her and still did it isn't going to change because she is dead.

Look, people's individual definitions of an illness, and indeed what constitutes self control is a matter for interminable debate, and varies widely between people.

In my view, equating the death of a young woman who has died like her with a young woman who has died from leukaemia or a car accident is just wrong, and probably somewhat insulting to the latter two. In my view, the former had a choice at several junctures- how much is debatable, but I do see it as a choice. The latter 2 hypothetical girls had no choice.

Of course, all people are equal, and should be given the treatment they require to recover.

Of course, it's silly to compare her death to any other. She made her choices and she tried to beat her addictions.

She had millions of fans though who did root for her and who would have liked to see her back at the top where she belonged. People are going to want to pay their respects.

She had such talent and such a promising future.

Mark Ronson who worked with her a lot just tweeted:

she was my musical soulmate & like a sister to me. this is one of the saddest days of my life

Charming - the get what you deserve brigade are surfacing - the girl is dead maybe give it awhile before you start with the sermons... I'm saddened by her death and the last thing I want to do is engage with this kind of 'debate'. So with that I'll leave you to your moral high ground.

Very well said Erytheis.Any life is waste when most likely her lifestyle brought upon her demise.Though she was adult and in life for decisions you make there is a reaction and consequences and you have to accept them when you take actions. She was an adult and no one can really help but yourself.I think people react different with this. She took drugs right but because she is a singer it is sad and outpouring. An average person does it and their scum even though they may not commit crimes to fund their habit they are tarred with the scum who do.

We are all adults. You make choices. She really did have talent unlike a lot of those out there now and she fucked it away.People were there to help her but can you can only help yourself.Whatever problems she may have had if you really want help you will seek and try to beat it.

Here people have varied opinions anthonio, if we all agreed then it wouldn't be a very good forum, now would it.
No one said she got what she deserved, just that she was playing with fire and who could really be surprised that she got burnt.
