The skeletal remains of a mentally disturbed dude who was obsessed with the British royal family was found having lain for up to 4 years only a few feet away from Buckingham Palace.He had spent his life stalking the royals,bombarding them with letters, photos,gifts and threats,topping it all off with dying and decomposing in their garden.

How easy is it for love and interest to turn in to fanaticism?
Ive often scared myself with my Avid Merrion type lusting after certain celebs but I wouldnt send them letters,fantasize about kidnapping them or popping my clogs in their garden right?...........riiight?

It's very sad that nobody noticed that man was missing for so long. It's also bizarre that nobody found the body for three years.

yeah and the fact aswell that the british secret service were supposed to have secured the area around the palace for miles yet there was a decomposing body with a prime sniper vantage point

Decomposing in the garden of your favourite stalkee is never a good idea,no matter which way you look at it.

Well considering I got within 6 feet of Charles, Camilla, William and Harry at the gates 2 xmases ago and me dragging a big suitcase, the Yard/MI5 needs to keep their eyes peeled better.

The man died in St James Park which is the other side of the Victoria monument to Buck House and not their garden.

The public aren't allowed to that part of the park. I wonder how he managed to get there without being noticed?

You'd be amazed at what feats people can achieve when obsession and determination take hold.

I find the whole issue of stalking very sad. I was reading a superb Ruth Remdell book a while back about a young English man and his fixation on a beautiful up and coming model and how his obsession got so extreme it led to murder. Of course, it's only a book but there have already been a number of cases where stalkers attacked and/or killed the object of their obsession. Jill Dando anyone?

With the cult of celebrity being more powerful now than ever, I can only see this as getting worse and people seek to escape their mundane lives by immersing themselves in a world of media-driven, over-exposed "celebrity."

I think stalking is an artform, misunderstood. I mean, c'mon, the dedication. 10/10 for effort.
