Its a peaceful protest/rally gathering pace in America, will it happen here or should it happen here? Should Irish people occupy the grounds of the Dail till reforms etc. are brought in to give Democracy back to the people, or will it fade away eventually?

I'm not sure if the protesters in Wall Street will achieve much if they stay peaceful.
Except for being a tourist curiosity.

I looked at the people protesting on Wall Street and thought that society would be a better place if some of them got a job, paid their taxes and made a contribution instead of sitting there whinging.

It's a bit late really. Where were the protesters during the bailouts? Where were they at the ballots? That's where it really counts.

Well for a start more accountability in politics, either abolish the Seanad or have direct elections and maybe one local Authority per county. Whatever it is, start the process of reforms by the people for the people. Didn't they promise that in their elections.

Some of them may well be like that, but some of them look like professional protesters & layabouts AKA anti-globalisation activists and the likes. It should be rememberd that unlike us the United States is no longer in recession.

But what is Wall Street really ? The US stock exchange ?
You don't have to be on Wall Street to trade stocks and shares. Millions of ordinary Americans do it at home from their pc's and iphones.
And poorer countries like India are at it in a huge way.

Maybe because its part of the problem as they see it, who actually owns wall street and do they want it taken control of or regulated?

I really admire people like this who get up off their arse, follow their social conscience and spend time bringing the world's attention to this.

They are expressing the unrepresented frustation of the populace. Unrepresented because no politicans seem to have the wits or bravery to take on a radical reform of the way the world's wealth alots itself to this cossetted 1%.

Its another feudal system in the making.

Sure look at the people who were speaking at the convention the last few days, likes of Bono, O'Brien and Desmond. Bussiness people and Artists with questions to Answer about their taxes and business dealings, U-turn Enda aswell! How could you even listen to these people, with their credibility. Why wasn't Bertie and the likes of Lowry there, or would it have been too obvious?

One Democratic source on Fox (Bob Beckel) sees this as their version of the anti-Establishment movement seen in the Tea Party in the GOP. Is this an astroturf by the Democrats to shift the blame for the economic crisis away from Obama and towards Wall Street?
