It's probably because I haven't been out on "The Scene" much yet. But I don't really see "The Scene" as some sort of lifestyle that one must leave when they feel they've had enough.

To me it's just what pub you head to drink in that night.

yeah but when you head there every weekend and refuse to drink in any pub other than the George it's not healthy.

it can be ................ but it can also be the same faces, same attitudes, cliques same patronisation sometimes its good to remember that life doesnt revolve around it.

i like to go to lots of different places but when i go out with some of my friends they are determined to hit the same old spots with the same crowd same formula etc etc

Well would that not be someone trying too hard to score? I can't really see any other reason they would refuse to go anywhere else.

Is it? Why? Loads and loads of people have their local and won't go elsewhere? Are they all unhealthy?

no - on my friends behalf he isnt trying mega hard to score - he is just happy ? satasfied with what is offered to us on the scene .............

i enjoy poping into a gay place i havnt been in for a while .......... is it not understandable to get a little bored with places that havnt really changed what they are offering in the last 2 years?

No it's not about scoring - it's about being being obsessed with the lifestyle that the scene offers

Maybe some people need to have a safe head space to sort themselves out.

Mango that is a big, massive leap to make. I don't think it is fair to say one is "ghettoising your life" because they happen to frequent one bar the whole time. Are straight people ghettoising their lives because they always go to straight bars?

I AGREE MANGO ....... I DONT WANT TO ONLY GO OUT ON THE SCENE ......... I THINK ITS BETTER TO MIX IT UP - WE DONT LIVE IN A GAY WORLD BUT THE SCENE HAS ITS PLACE AND FUNCTION
I JUST WISH IT WAS MORE DIVERSE, CREATIVE AND DIDNT TREAT GAYS WITH A ONE SIZE FITS ALL MENTALITY.

Maybe the important is how people live the scene, and if they decide to leave it, it is hopefully for the right reasons.

I just read this thread, and this comment caught my attention, in a sense it is right but in a sense it's wrong, it a form of stylised ghettoism, which has nothing to do with a ghetto but more to do with, creating ones own society (Social Group) so that they can feel comfortable socialising. Nothing wrong with that everyone does it, everyone it's human nature and I don't have a problem with stylisation (If you fell comfortable that ok by me) where I have the problem is when the stylisation handicapes people from being themselves.

I removed myself from "The Scene" about 6 years ago. I am now thinking of going back into it older and wiser. Am I really missing much?

I think it's ok, the G always has a big Q, street 66 is ok, but has problems with pickpockets, Panti is only good when you get tired of talking as it's really loud. Nealons is very non offensive.
