One argument is that it's a victimless crime.
No it's not. It's just easier to moralise taking something from big evil companies. Of course they pass losses on to cast, crew, writers etc. apart from cancellations, a writer who comes up with an ingenious show surely deserves compensation from you for creating something you really enjoy, no? He gets much less if you pirate.
Struggling actors who don't get royalty cheques from DVD sales? Don't tell me the likes of Johnny Drama doesn't need all thr cash he can get!
Shareholders in the big bad movie companies lose out, as do pension funds which invest in them. Which means pensioners do too.
What about retail stores like Hmv etc where many have closed or have job loses because people don't buy DVD's or music, they download illegally. Staff lose jobs, government loses tax revenues from sales?
