SHOCKING VIDEO : Child Being Beaten Up , But Suspend Judgement

# 1 : Wednesday 14-12-2011 @ 13:53

Ive just been sent this shocking horrible video, which is flying around Facebook at the moment and is causing quite a lot of outrage and racial vitriol

It appears to show, without any evidence or back story or facts ( and i cannot stress this enough ) a white or fair skinned young boy being beated up by some asian adults while a crowd watches...its seems recent distressing footage of a baby being left to die after being struck by cars in China has made this latest, unconfirmed video more "believable" and inflammitary to some.

It is shocking and distressing whatever the situation or circumstances.
I have included the link, but to warn you,the title of the video is suggestive and inflammatory and is not necessarily a true dipicition of whats going on.
I present it without comment, but Id be interested to see peoples opinions.

AGAIN THE TITLE HAS RACIST OVERTONES,AND SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN AT FACE VALUE WITHOUT FACTS .

OMG...that's terible. You wouldn't treat a dog like that so why would you treat a child like this?

Even if he did steal or whatever (based on some of the comments I read) there are better ways of dealing with children that do wrong that kicking them on the streets surrounded by a crowd

It's a very distressing video.

I think it first was widely circulated in July 2011. Google "Chinese boy beaten". I don't know any more about the circumstances e.g. if the adults were prosecuted.

That is a very disturbing video. How can people stand back and watch something like that. I would say he might have been a pick pocket or something like that. Thats why he probably stood on his hands. But it is sick all the same.

I know, its a nasty distressing video and the fact that watching it we are helpless to do anything etc makes it all the worse.

Thats interestin Wheeliebin i didnt know how long the vid was about, just seems to have resurfaced on facebook today, and its going viral

As if the child abuse in public aspect of it wasnt sinister enough it seems that the way the video is framed and presented (rightly or wrongly) the rightful disgust and anger is being highjacked by racist/rightwing agendas ...this is all nasty and sick in so many ways

Main concern im sure for everyone is a) is this child safe now? b) have the animals who are doing it him,and not helping, been brought to justice

I had seen this on boards.ie and it was revolting. A few posters believed it was anti-white racism that motivated the Chinese attackers of the small boy. I have no idea myself what would drive a group of adults to assault a small child like that.

We do not know the circumstances of the video, and we do not know if indeed it is a 'white' boy. This child may have been a thug or have done some nasty stuff. It gives the impression of a cruel, racist vision, but I would rather know the full facts than to mouth off about it.
I do not belief that children, women or men are all innocent whatever there age so what is happening here may be justified, in their culture.

If a child has resorted to robbing or whatever. That is because they have no choice but to do it. If a five year old robbed off me, I would report him to the police and get their parents dealt with. But i would not stamp on their hands and beat them up. That is completely wrong.

If we agreed with this stance, the same could be said with the hanging of gays guys in iraq because it is part of their culture as well.

This type of behaviour cannot be justified.

How can people know that's a racial thing unless that speak chinese? It's just sick regardless of the circumstances.

While it's not right, a quick google suggests he was a thief and got caught robbing (that might explain the standing on his hand)

It might be just what happens in China where people (from reports) get robbed from on a daily basis by children who are used by gangs etc.

Different cultures blah blah.

Nothing suggests it's racial other than it's a group of asians with a white / mixed race boy.

I doubt that happens all the time in China Shaggy, it's a big place with vastly different cultural attitudes from one province to another.

Perhaps, it was a group of market people sick of being robbed from on a daily basis.

I'm not condoning it and I'm as oblivious to what is going on as the rest of you but I'd imagine a lot of people in China are poor and to have their livelihood threatened by thieves makes them react as such.

We'd see the same here if our wages were being robbed by children on a daily / weekly basis.

On one website someone says that reference to the child being a thief is made and the men are market workers and the robbing happens daily.

Are we really gonna justify kicking a child in the head with cultural differences???
