I Went To The Doctor And Guess What She Told Me

# 16 : Wednesday 22-2-2012 @ 15:04

I went to mine today, to talk about Depression. He was expecting me, no-one in the waiting room and I sat there waiting to see him. 30 mins went and the room filled up, I was getting annoyed at this stage. He came in then and said he had to go out, F that I said and walked out. Time to change doctors now, sick of him now!

Absolutely - I'm constantly amazed when people complain about their doctor but never think to shop around.

I changed doctors a few years ago after a similar event, and couldn't be happier with the one I have now, although a few months ago when I had to go see him he asked if I'd fallen off the gay wagon, but it was completely in humour and did lighten the mood.

@ the OP- sorry to hear about your experience.

None of the rest of us was there, so we can't make a 'first hand' assessment of why the doctor might have recommended counselling. It could have been triggered by your sexual behaviour, your medical history, your demeanour on the day or many other factors that you have not mentioned. You can make a written complaint to the medical council or the HSE if you like, but quietly selecting another doctor might be a healthier option. Good luck either way, I hope your experience improves .

Yes, I realise that you are all hearing one side of the story but to be honest, I told her that I had unprotected sex a few times with two people who I have a good degree of trust in. I never gave any impression I was confused about my sexuality. So when she came out with that clanger I was a bit blindsided. When I call her to get the results I'll see what she says and might say something then.

She overstepped the mark with her comment about your sexuality
BUT...
I approve of any scare tactics she would use to try to scare you into ALWAYS having safe sex.
Obviously, all the information you currently receive isn't working.

Then we went to do take bloods for the blood test and she had to call a colleague to ask if some test were done from the same samples and she had a bit of a laugh on the phone about this.

That's very vague.

when I went to the free sti clinic in Dublin a year ago the female doctor said the following when she did an oral swab in my mouth. when I gagged on the lollipop stick used to gather the sample, she said " whats up with you gay guys? u suck cock you would think you would be able to tolerate my swab going into your mouth"
Firstly im bi and to assume im gay and then to make that disguting remark I feel went too far. I subsequently made a complaint to the HSE and im glad to say she is no longer working in that clinic.
