I think if you need pills and helping you, but if a doctor/GP is only giving you pills to line their pockets and not help you then I feel this is so wrong and not really understanding or helping people who need help and this is shocking for a medical person to do this.

Not happy with your doctor I suppose changing them would be the best course.

Well, he is the only near me and the others are too far away. I think Gps are quick in general to say oh this pill will help.

Some doctors never prescribe and some prescribe more, I suppose it's also up to you to talk up a bit more and maybe ask for alternatives if you prefer not to take a medicine and discuss it with your gp.
I mean I know people who have reversed their diabetes with changes of diet and exercise and less stress, of course in all cases it's not possible and there are very good medicines .
Try to talk about it with your Dr and I'm sure he will reassure you.

My GP is just into trying to give out pills and make a profit that is the sad thing about it. He always keeps saying he has a pill which will help. And each time I say no thanks never been on meds, nor do I want to touch them he always keeps trying to say because of my disability that I might need them. Problem is very few doctors near me. And I remind him that not all people with Asperger's require meds.

It seems to be a difficult compromise you've made because you don't want to travel to another doctor who is further away but you've decided your doctor hasn't the best solutions for you ? Hmmmm what do you think you might change?

I have no car for the moment, there is no bus service where I live and the next GP is about 4 hours away so its really easy to tell someone what to do without the facts? And people are far too busy to give a lift to a new GP. Where this one is 15 minutes away and within walking distance. So its a no win thing.
And Because I live in a small town thats far out, we don't all have every thing near us. It is rather hard to get a new GP as there is only one working near me the others are far and the medical center was closed down last month.

That is a very difficult situation you're in and doesn't help. I have been there, not easy and had to change my GP in the end. The last one, should've been a gossip columnist and owned a coffee shop.

sometimes in life you have no choice but to work with the stuff that is around you and as much as you want to change it you can not as the facilities need to be upgraded but the resources are left and forgotten.
Well if a GP gossips then to me he belongs in a coffee shop and should stay there.
Mind you there is a woman who is in the waiting room when I am there and she is gossip central always telling me how bad that guys mole is or how the fellow sitting across from her has had a lot of affairs and other stuff.

Do you have a local network of family and friends or supports, other than medicalized?

Are there any groups that share some of your interests that you have considered joining to re-map your social network?

My family support me, but not many people with Asperger's, in my area. And not a lot of gay women in which I have inter acted with want to go on a date with some with Asperger's so rather hard to chat to them and meet a woman. I do, do tour guiding sometimes so that makes me mix with other people, but I do feel awkward sometimes in social groups, There is not many social groups in my area. However I am part of the arts and culture board which is great.

That's an impressive effort, given the geographical isolation.
Have you considered joining one of the Gaire meets, even may be call for one in your area?
It may only be 3 people, but they would be 3 people who care to experience rural isolation, even by proxy (one assumes it would have to be in the nearest sizeable location, but it can include a day trip...)

My last GP, went on about his family and would talk for ages about them.
