talk to them but find some one u can talk to s well about the things that trouble u. .

Well said it takes time to build up a therapeutic relationship with a counsellor & you should base your decision on the first session it usually takes between 4/6 before you know if its working. And leatherg1 is right find people you trust, can meet for a coffee and talk to a good support network

I have done the counselling circuit already. Female counsellor's reassurances don't cut if for me for reasons explained before. The truth is itself depressing. I was refused a health board counsellor on the medical card. I'll think about it but I don't see what the point is. They don't have a magic wand.

you may have to wait a little while for an appointment with the public health service which is free but you will get one eventually via a referrel from a gp. i don't understand why you were refused? on what grounds?
as funky lover said also check with your local community health centre and thats a lot of good links and help he has given to you.

They didn't give an explanation but I suspect me having missed 2 earlier appointments is the reason (once because I forgot the date). My heart wasn't in going to a counsellor it's just my aunt was nagging me to go to one. I think I could definitely have benefited from counselling years ago before....but not now. But i'll think about it. The issue early in my adolescence was shyness, whereas now its another issue too that I promised not to discuss. The Tesco-event has wrecked my confidence again. I feel housebound.

its never too late to start but if you do nothing about it you'll remain feeling housebound and get more so with each passing day. And as for missing appointments a counsellor will address that with you but not judge you for it. We have to have a completely non judgemental attitude when working with clients otherwise we couldn't work with them in the first place.

I experience it about once a month, and it is not good. If you have never experienced it you will never understand...it is genuinely a mental sickness that is very dangerous. I never got help other than anti depressants but sometimes i wish that ther was ome help somewhere....but today is a grt day so non of that

Ok I am back from the psychiatrist, they wanted me to go into hospital today? But I needed to make a few arrangements and sort stuff out for the house. I'll be going in, in two weeks time approx. or sooner! I may be quiet for a while, just go in the door earlier and my GP sent a letter to come in ASAP to discuss Blood Test Results?

Hey Nanny... good luck with everything. You are defo one of my favourite posters on here. You always have a kind or funny word to say, totally brightened my day on many an occasion. Will be thinking of you

My thyroid has been causing the problems i have now, but they want to check me in for some therapy anyhow. There are some great people here, inluding me!

I don't really have too many issues with depression but I do seem to follow the same behaviours within relationships and do suffer from awful jealousy. The jealousy actually makes me behave in ways I would be ashamed to admit sometimes.

Would Cognitive Behaviourial Therapy help with that? I think it sounds interesting.

No, you see I don't have a problem with depression but I do have a problem with repeating the same damaging behaviours again and again!

I was getting a tingling in my throat, every time I was here and all? But I have had thyroid issues since I was born, on meds for it all my life and constant testing. i may have had this illness, even without the thyroid? I'll find out soon enough?
