Computer Help Thread V

CPUs are notoriously bad time keepers (your main computer chip)
this is why they synch to time servers, which are linked to atomic clocks (very good time keepers).
If you unsynch, see if you can notice how much time it loses (or gains) over a month.

I wouldn't use your computer clock as a reference from now on.

That's odd. Is it set to the right Time Zone?

Or, try synching it to a different server?

It's almost as if it's taking the difference in latitude between Greenwich and Dublin into account.

I prefer to print screen (you can use Alt + Print Screen to print only the active window) and paste in "Paint", then edit and copy what I need.

The "Alt" & "print screen" is a New one for me Blah. I use "Ctrl " & "print screen" for a screen grab. But have to do a bit of trimming after.
Must try your recommendation.

Just looking for a bit of advice.

I got a phone call to my landline this morning when I was working in my home office and the number ID looked like "00218521" or something like this. I picked up the phone and a foreign - possibly Indian sounding - woman told me that she was calling from Microsoft Windows and that I had malware and spyware on my Windows system and could she help me to remove it? I thought this was all a bit suspicious so I told her "no thanks" for her help and hung up.

Anyone else got calls like that? There was no email from Windows preceding the call, nothing so I was suspicious.

Dont know how or where they are getting the phone numbers of people, as they seem to only ring people who have internet in their house, as said its a scam and hang up, they may phone back a few times from a different number (usually a skype number which they can change easy enough) but they will eventually give up!

Jumping Jehosaphat Jupiter, you must be the only person in the country who hasn't got dozens of those calls at this stage,I used to get two a week, was that really your first time? Be assured it won't be your last.
