I didn't study the fee breakdown yet and I don't go to the resident's meetings anymore so I can't really complain.
I'll get back to you on that.

So I am at logger heads with my management company over my outside terrace. It is infested with wood lice and they are coming into the bedrooms downstairs. I keep on complaining to the management company and the people who answer the phones (not their fault) tell me the manager won't answer my calls. He got a quote (for ripping up the terrace and pouring concrete into it) for 2 grand but that shouldn't be my problem. My fees are up to date so all good there.
So tomorrow I'm going to see a solicitor. What do you think my chances of a solicitor's letter will get them to do the job?
Anybody any experience of this?

Buy some "Mint Plants" and put them near the windows insects hate the mint smell and will not enter also leave the windows open so the insects that are in the rooms can escape. I was infested by Silverfish and the mint worked, all insects hate the odor

They have ripped the decking up and concreted over it. I don't have the problem anymore thankfully.

You should contact some of the other owners and set
Up your own management company. We did it a number
Of years ago to keep management fees at a reasonable level. You then have full control

See the problem is I can't be bothered with the effort so I can't complain really about that.

Today the last bits of work on patio went in. He is just finishing up the job - in the dark! It took 6 long months to resolve and lots of stress. So I will start paying my fees next week. Result.

Not related to services charges but have a question in general about rent.
Our washing machine broke last month and we told our landlord about it... the machine is an old model and never worked right since I moved in last year. Anyway, the landlord said it was up to us to call someone to come look at it and get it fixed and he would take the cost out of our rent. Is this the case? we haven't the first clue of who to call and neither are we home during the day to let someone in to look at it. Is it really up to us or is this down to the landlord to resolve? Ultimately its going to result in a new machine needed.

If it is old and troublesome, get a new one in the january sales and save yourself the cost of a call out charge. You'll be told this anyway, use a dry cleaners or local pay machines in garages until the sales and you'll get your money back from landlord.

If the washing machine is old get the landlord to buy a new one. Don't go to the trouble of getting it fixed.
