Hardly the market for it or else someone would have done it already.

But in a city of 1.3 million - and a country of 4.6 million - surely there has to be a market for just one lesbian venue? I know there's the George and the Front Lounge, but Pantibar and The Dragon are much more oriented towards gay men and it seems like gay gals are lacking their own space.

I do know that the LGBT bar Loafers in Cork has a large gay female clienetle.

Ah guys you are depressing me! How is it soul destroying? Kiss was great fun and you got to catch up with familiar faces! I'm surprised the lesbian nights are not more regular! Having said that- since I split up with my ex last year I've not really ventured into the gay scene as honestly my closest friends are straight so I mainly go to straight bars...

Thanks for the tip about Sat- now ill try get someone go with me.

Try an ad in the classified section too. You might just find a new friend who'd like to go with you .

Ah, don't get depressed - don't mind the messers on here.

Although I do second the Bitches Be Crazy motion: I've missed the last couple of nights, much to my regret because each time I've gone they have been absolutely epic! (And cheap as chips too when it's BYOB.)

A couple of good places to check for what's on are: Facebook events (though that depends on who you're linked with, etc., so it can be a bit hit-and-miss), Gaelick's calendar http://www.gaelick.com/whats-on/ and Running Amach's calendar http://www.meetup.com/Dublin-LGBTQ-Womens-Social-Networking-Club/

(Full disclosure: I write with Gaelick, so that's a bit of a shameless plug. But we do try to keep it up-to-date!)

Then why wouldn't someone do it?

That's a point - maybe gay gals don't want a space of their own but I would have thought that Dublin would be big and diverse enough to support one lesbian venue.

@Clicky - welcome back! Haven't seen you around here in a while.

Crew cuts, muffin tops and check shirts stand out in a smelly, sweaty, over crowded establishment.

A straight guy could work that room given the right barber.
Interesting.

Not sure why there isn't a women's night as such any more. Kiss and CaKe were great craic back in the day. *sniffle* Although BBC would count for me now, even though it's technically mixed rather than a women's night.

Someone should figure it all out, and write a paper on it.

I think the main issue with Lesbian nights is that its very hard to build up any sort of permanent clientele. Most women only go to these events at a certain stage in their coming out process, usually early 20's. They then realise that they hate all things gay, jump back into that closet that they originally came bouncing out of, and live the life of a gay women operating in a straight world.

Klub kandy starts on saturday night in the parnell. Run by the same person as klub diva and that was on once a month and just stopped a while ago as there was problems with the venue. I think the scene is very small and you end up meeting the same people when you go out so less is more
