Nope. Not at all. Used to watch it when I was younger but now it's just a shocking embarrassment. RTE axe brilliant dramas like RAW but they keep this shite going.

I'll admit RAW was weak in its final season, but overall it was great viewing.

Ah well, least we still have Love / Hate.

It needs a disaster like other sopas! They done a car crash so that is ruled out. There seems to be no Luas or Dart lines in Carrigstown.Only thing is a bomb which is plausible considering suspect devices are always found all found the whole country.

More credibility to this plot is the fact the Bishops live there and their dodgy past.

Culling time!!!

Cardil falls in love too easily, puts on a dopey face and drops both her standards and knickers in rapid succession to any tom cat who high fives or hello's her,and Dolores letting a crim away with stealing her 900K without even reporting it are both crimes in themselves.

Hi all,

I was going to start a thread on this I got watching Fair City one or two episodes the one where that guy got beaten up by an associate of Decco Bishop and the episode where Damien played the superhero and rescued his girlfriend front being kept as a slave in this doctors house.

But either way Fair City is not a patch on the UK soaps and my dear mother said it and she likes her soaps and stated turn that RTE dung over I want to watch Emmerdale on the Sky Plus but seriously terribly overacted poorly directed and it seems to have been written by some guy on work experience.

And also the storylines don't last very long they are usually wrapped up in about 2 or 3 weeks.

This is just my humble and honest assessment and opinion

It serves another purpose too. When ever the Late Late runs out of cash to get real celebrities on the show, they "interview" a current or former employee. Fairly Shitty is especially handy in this regard as they don't even have to pay the bus fare.

In fairness, there are some very talented people who work on Fair City - both behind and in front of the camera. RTE are completely to blame for how shit it is. They push a ridiculous working schedule on all involved, with a much smaller crew than any of the British soaps. Plus it doesn't help that RTE don't want to pay for actual drama directors anymore. Most of the Fair City directors don't know how to work with actors and their core experience is directing camera shots in the likes of the Late Late.

If Fair City had more time to work out storylines, to work with the actors (and directors who could direct actors), there would be a huge improvement. But as long as it's getting ratings, RTE won't do a thing to change it.

It gets ratings because its left on in places like hospitals and nursing homes where people are physically unable to change it.

That's not true because it's not how the ratings system works.

The way it works is that a couple hundred households around the country have volunteered to have a box connected to their TV, recording what they watch. It's from these people that the ratings are collected.

Interestingly - and frustratingly - RTE use the bare minimum of households for the ratings to be valid. So it's far from an accurate reading.
