You could look into a root canal, might cut into your ciggy money though.

Edit : the fact it is capped suggests that this may have already been done.

Dentist was afraid to remove the cap in case what was left of the tooth came away with it and left him nothing to work with.

I don't care how much it costs to keep a tooth in my head, but ifs gone its gone

You might consider an implant after the old ones has been extracted and the gum has had a chance to heal?
Not cheap mind you...

im in agony the last few days off work with me feckin wisdom tooth
its all my own fault because i was due to have it removed and or have a root canal done a few years ago,however when the dentist (who i went to for a second opinion) tried to remove my tooth it wouldnt budge after a good hour of extremely painful pulling...

i ended up having to ask him to stop and just prescribe me painkillers and anti-inflammatories until it was ready for another shot at extraction.however the pills seemed to temporarily "fix it" and i got away with it for another few years

tomorro mornin im facing the dentist again and i amnt ashamed to admit im shittin meself

I feel for you - given the difficulty of the procedure would it not be better to be put asleep in a dental hospital?

Had something like that before - the tooth had to be quartered and a piece of jawbone removed. I hour and six stitches later it was all over and no pain at all

That sounds horrible BB.
I had my wisdom teeth removed before they caused too much damage. I had to spend a night in the hospital because they could not get the blood to clot and finally they gave me 10 shots in the mouth and the blood finally stopped flowing.

Got any painkillers left?

@Thomas
i asked the last time about gettin a general anaesthetic as i wouldnt mind that at all but he refused until hed tried it with just the local first.but then again this is the same lad who was practically kneeling on me chest yankin at the tooth whilst i was howlin.... and i cant stress strongly enough I had no fear of dentists before this and had visited semi regularly all me life for the occasional filling

@Flame On
im glad you were ok after it man but id heard the horrors of the quartering before bein awful...and the mention of jawbone has me holdin me face already

@BigBabyJebus
thats another terrifying one,im seriuosly startin to wish i hadnt mentioned it on Gaire at all now ha ha.. i can relate to the whole multiple injections thing,that must have been scary when the bleedin wouldnt stop.

I got shots which i naiively thought were instant painkillers without any joy.I had got a few (cant remember how many)to numb the area when they were doing that failed extraction last time and the dentist practically called me a liar when i said i could still feel a lot of pain (not discomfort but pain) when i mentioned it to the nurse who i had to get to order me a taxi as i would barely stand she said "those are for the pain later on,the first shot you got before it started was the quick acting one" .........they are fiends the lot of them!!

How did it go?

I got a wisdom tooth out a year or two ago. Mine was painless. It was a top one though. I think the bottom are a lot more difficult.

i had to have a general anasethetic as my 4 wisdom teeth were impacted, and growing horiontally instead of vertically.

The last dentist I went to was a lady and she was extremely competent. She had the tooth out in no time and I went for a feed of Guiness that night !
