The following is a disturbing image. I agonised about whether to post it onto Gaire directly or use a link. I felt that in order to achieve the maximum effect it would be needed to be posted upfront. So please be aware.
Do not shop in Penney's.
At least some good news today at least, they found a survivor 17 days after the collapse of the building.
It's not like Penney's is the only culprit, many other companies could not care less how their product is made as long as it's made cheaply enough. And that includes much more expensive chains.
It may ease your conscience to boycott Penneys and shop in another chain store, but that's all it does. It will do fuck all to help anyone affected if you're still buying from some other stores whose profits are based on exploiting workers in much poorer nations.
These workers in Bangladesh were paid minimum wage: 38 dollars a month. The owners of the factory were told to evacuate the building as it was deemed unstable, they ignored that.
As long as money is held in higher regard than human life this will keep on happening.
