Instead of bumping ones from the stone age when issues in common with old ones arise, should we instead start new ones. (C) Butters

Members are free to start their own threads of course, but bumping threads for your own little post is alright as well if you wish.

Personal advice threads shouldn't be hijacked as its confusing to see responses to both the OP and someone else's separate issue.

A new topic should always be started in this case.

What if one sees an old thread and it only has four or five posts does one start a new topic or write on the old post?

I always search for an old thread first instead of starting a new one. It might be the wrong way though?

People grow & change & mature and have drunken rants so, may not always want old ten year old posts rehashed constantly. Sometimes it's best to let them die. Err, not that I'd have any experience of that now..

It is the perfect right way.
Otherwise someone will bump the existing thread, rightly or wrongly. But in earnest, what’s the point in that?
Use your judgement to decide if an existing thread best serves your purpose. (I bump a lot of quite old threads when I feel it best)
