Spotify In Ireland

Yes!
Spotify has finally reached Ireland.

It's basically like a cross between a free itunes, a legal version of Napster and social media things where you link up your facebook account and your friends can see what songs you're listening too.

Am curious....why the hell would I want my "friends" to know what songs Im listening to at any given moment in time?

Agreed. My music snobbery would be undermined if my weakness for Nicki Minaj's Starships became common knowledge.

Free to stream on a desktop I think. Charge for offline and other devices.

Isn't Grooveshark an adequate substitute?

I'm using it now.
I thought there was supposed to be ads between songs.
I've got no ads yet.
Do they start the ads after a certain amount of plays or something?

They don't have the Beatles or Led Zeppelin.
What's the point?

OK, since I started the thread I may as well act as Spotify ambassador, though for the record, I'm hardly a die hard fan, I;ve only had it about a day, I just heard it was good but that it wasn't available in Ireland, as such anything one can't have suddenly becomes the most desirable thing imaginable.

Beats me? who cares? on the filp side what would you not? If you treasure your music listening privacy or you happen to be a gary glitter fan, just don't bother sync to facebook or bother with the adding people aspect to the programme.

I find the friends listening aspect handy for broadening your horizons; what's this? "column is listen to someone dance artist I've never heard of" hmm, lets have a listen, *search* oh wow this is great.
Perhaps some friend may have just played a track you forgot you liked and you'll see a little "butters had just listened to the Cher - Believe" and you may think "oh yeah, I love that song"
so can you load music on to your iphone using this?

I believe you cannot 'sync' to a mobile device without paying some sort of subscription, I plan on not using this function at all, so you're on your own.
They don't have the Beatles or Led Zeppelin.
What's the point?

That is a rather giant Catarpillar in the salad; of some artists not being there.

And what's worse is they have all these "next best thing" recordings. for the love of god don't play them!!! despite the fact that they're 98% similar it's the 2% difference that sound worse then a million needles in your eyeballs.

The ads seem to be visual only, so just set up a play list and then minimize the window.

It's amazing that the ads are only visual.
I'm sure the advertisers must be delighted.

The missing bands renders it useless to me though.
God knows what other bands are missing that I might want to play if I was using this to dj at a party.

I might check it out but I wouldnt be mad into sharing playlists. I do need to add some new music to my collection though. Been listening to the same old tunes for years now. :/

I always thought spotify is what women did on their knickers when a monthly visitor was about to show up?
