Whats your opinion on the Chinese traditional medicine, especially the numerous "clinics" (of dubious funding) which have popped up in a number of supermarkets in recent years

Have you ever gotten accupuncture/suction/massage or herbal medicine ?

A friend of mine who had terrible depression who found medication just made it worse swore by acupuncture so you never know.

Personally I find a hard to pronounce name in those little push packets more reassuring.

@Flame On
yeah there seems to be a lot of talk about toxins and preservatives and even mercury being present in some of the "herbs" that can damage liver and kidney
i wonder if the same level of health checking is done on them as would be done on food stuffs etc?

@pennylane
i can see how something like depression (which obvious has physical symptoms but not necessarily a "physical" cause) might benefit from alternative therapies,but id be thinkin would it be the placebo effect only and an expensive placebo at that

Well, given that demand from an ever wealthier China for rare so-called "remedies" is causing a mass slaughter of endangered animals in Africa such as the Rhino and Elephant, I don't think much of a lot of Chinese "medicine."

That said, remedies that don't involve animal poaching - such as acupuncture - does have its uses.

Not a fair question.
Chinese medicine deals mainly with prevention.

acupuncture has saved me a couple of times.it's hard to explain but I know a well placed pin in my head can instantly calm me down.

I don't have much faith in the Dr. herbals places, but there are some very good therapist around just get a recommendation

Spent hundreds in doctor herbals horrible hut of horrors where they treated me for a condition I didn't have,useless,but having said that,i'm certain that it is an effective treatment for many ailments,including in my case,a swollen wallet.

I think there has been research that suggests acupuncture can be more effective than placebos.

The rest of it I have no idea about.

That was for the erectile disfunction.
They gave you Wood.

I think some of the herbs they use have been shown to have some benefits but i think the majority of the stuff has either never been tested or is complete bunk.

I have always believed in alternative medecines: so now is their chance to show that they can do better than western medecine. And they have started to prove it as China is the first to recover from the Cornonovirus.
