I am digging out my old CD's for some strange reason. I am listening to UTAH saints album from 1993 and stuff like that. I think old dance music kicks new dance musics ass!!! Who agrees??

I am now mixing the prodigy's 'funky shit'!!! shit, the bass just beats anything going these days. If you have it and a good system, play it loud and tell me I am wrong????

I have to agree.....I think that the older dance music was better, with the Prodigy up there in front - Music for the Jilted Generation still blows me away when I put it on even after 10 years! A possible exception to this is Scissor Sisters - have you heard Comfortably Numb? It is a modern classic.

Then again, I'm biased towards the 90s as I was in the flower of my youth and more impressionable back then (I'm 29 now) so that might be a factor.

Actually I was much more into Grunge and Metal in those days - anyone remmber good ol' Fibber Magees? (Ah, the memories............)

They really were the good old ays....not many cares - everthing being spontaneous and just happening

In terms of dance tracks Felix's Dont You Want My Lovin? was stunning, do you also remember:

The Grid
Leftfield - All of Leftism Album
The Beloved - Sweet Harmony
Usura - Open Your Mind
Bjork - Big Time Sensuality
Bjork - Violenty Happy
Prodigy - Outer Space (I'll take your brain to another dimension!)

I think that the first song that could be regarded a "proto-techno" is "I Feel Love" by Donna Summer. It was well over a decade ahead of its time when it was relased in the Summer of 1977. Giorgo Moroder was a genius.

Cars by Gary Numan is another ahead of its time oldies - from '79 and it was also stunning.
