Plans For Pride?

I think it's good that the gardai take part it shows young gay people they can work in that organisation and hopefully with members of the Garda marching it will make the gardai more open to gays.

Yes, the Garda did bad things in the past, but you're not going to go forward if you stay in the past it's better to look at what's happening now and to ensure it keeps getting better and does not return to the dark days of being gay in Ireland.

I'm only marching in the pride parade.

Whatever about the history there, are current gardai not supposed to match because of that??

I have no problem at all in relation to Gardai.

I agree with them on corporatisation and commercialisation though. It just feels like crass bandwagon jumping giant corporates who are going with something trendy to make themselves more popular and profitable. I feel like its about hijacking and abusing my sexuality to make google more profits.

I’m mixed on it. Completely get that it’s bandwagon hopping etc. But also the fact that the parade is so generally popular is a sign of the times, and that’s surely a good sign. If corporate interest is a repercussion of that, seems a small price to pay compared to when the when it had to be called a march 20 (or5) years ago

I don’t agree with the Guards marching. Maybe they’re aren’t roughing up gay lads anymore, but you only have to see how Dara Quigley was treated to know that mean streak is still present.

Was great day never seen so many spectators, I don't understand why they don't sell alcohol in Merrion Square. It's very strange music and food with no booze. I remember the fringe festival was in Merrion square a few years ago and they had a full bar at it.

Did you wear the glitter beard or was it too much hassle?
