Good Detox Drink /Treatment ?

Every now and then I feel the need to give the body a goo old cleansing.Everyone I talk to seems to favour something different from herbal tea to distilled water to concoctions that seem weird. Anyone here recommend something effective that can be bought over the counter or is easily prepared and doesn't have harmful side effects ? Thanks.

Yeah water. Every doctor that isn't a quack says those 'detox' formulas you buy over the counter don't work.

Water is the best as it gives your digestive organs a rest.

Eat normally until say lunchtime and then drink only water until lunchtime the next day.

A Lemon in hot water every morning. Throw in a bit of cayenne pepper too.

If that's too difficult, just eat (steamed) vegetables (and drink water) for a couple of days.

Don't think that will be good.

Why not? It's very easy when you start in the middle of the day.

Cleansing it of what, exactly? If there are poisins in your system, there will be specific treatments for them (or none, if youre unlucky).

Cleansing it from where, exactly? If it's your intestines, then it will clear naturally. If it's your blood system, can you cleanse it of cholesterol by taking a tea? If so, doctors have been missing a trick for decades at least.

Your body, if it is working well, lwill cleanse most things given the time -- that's what the liver and kidneys do. FOr example, if you've drunk too much alcohol, then water (to prevent you from getting dehydrated) and a few days are needed.

But is it very healthy? Wouldn't 3 meals with good food be better? Have the cleanse as just cutting out the crap.

Our bodies are built for fasting - three or more meals a day is a very recent development in our evolution.
