I'm staying with Mam at moment and I do see these strange lights appear on the ceiling at night sometimes in my bedroom. I also sometimes have felt that there are breathing sounds and door creaks when I'm alone in the house. My aunt and adoptive father both died in this house.

Btw some good news for ghost hunters. Loftus Hall is finally being opened for tours and as a hotel. The devil supposed to have appeared there in the guise of a 18th century guest and wheen someone noticed his clovn hooves he flew through the ceiling, causing a hole reputedly never to be filled.

Does the feeling in your house bother you Eamonn? I kind of know what you mean, I have me fathers ashes in his urn in our gaff and I used to get a feeling of presence but not in a long time. Never frightening though

Would love to visit Loftus Hall, have heard loads about it and Leap Castle as well is supposed to be extremely sinister

It sortof bewilders and intrigues me at the same time. The light flashing is around where the bulb is but is turned off. It's like one of those orbs that are supposed to represent ghosts in programmes like Most Haunted

Of course Sooty also died in this house so could be her.

And it is sometimes scary if feels like someone is breathing. Like someone is there almost. I never got on with Dad and so sometimes I'd be scared to think if he was around. Mam had nightmares sometimes where he appears in her room and went away when Mam said she'd pray for him. I sometimes wonder if ghosts appear in our dreams.

No, I would be terrified if I saw anything like that.

No reason why a dog shouldn't be a ghost if a person was...even if ghosts are only after images or building memories im sure the dog would be as likely to be "remembered" by the building as anyone else

Regarding the lights, they wouldn't be coming from cars on the road outside or anything? sorry im no you probably would've ruled that out already just had to ask

I've seen a weird light in my room before, one of the weirdest experiences of my life
and I've told Gollumfarrell and possibly other Gaireans about this before...
I basically woke up to what looked like (and I know this sounds mental) a kind of hazy pink bonfire in my room, like a pillar of light coming out of it.a few feet high. I thought the room was burning but I was riveted watching it.
Then it just disappeared

Again though, I know I had just woken up so I might have been in a post hypnogogic state but it had a real strong effect on me... and I didn't feel scared like it was a ghost or anything.I just kind of wanted it to come back

No because its a big house and the room doesnt have a view of the road. It has a view of a lawn at the back.

Ive seen plenty over the years. I work in a haunted building and saw one earier today. Im part of a paranormal group and we travel around the country doin investigations. We've been asked to investigate some private houses and have elped families out.
Any private investigation we do, we do so in straicest confidiality, we never release details of these investigations and go so far as to signing a confidentiality agreement with the householder.
I believe that Ghosts/Spirits are just in a different realm and some may not realise they have passed on so they carry out their daily routines, sometime we are lucky enough to see them.

I think I spoke to you before about hauntings didn't I actingman?

I know you have to keep personal details anonymous but can you tell us about some of your experiences? What did you see earlier today for starters?

Years ago when I lived in the folks' house I used to hear footsteps late at night, like the sound of ladies heels on a wooden floor in the distance but the sound used to come from a particular corner of the room. Also used to hear it from the downstairs wc. This happened regularly for a long period.
Also the volume on the stereo in my bedroom used to turn itself up full blast (100w), and give me an absolute heart attack, happened lots of times. I have the same stereo in my apartment now and it never happened here.
Also I saw the door handle of the utility room move up and down one night, we had family there and some small nieces & nephews so I just presumed one of them had gone in and shut the door behind them and maybe couldnt open it, so I went over and opened the door but no-one inside.
So some strange occurances thinking about it now but nothing that ever worried me in the slightest at the time. If it was a ghost I'm guessing it was a friendly one!
The house is only 10 years old now but we dont know what was on the site originally (it was a field but dont know before that). But it is an historical part of the country, there are lots of historical sites within 5-10 miles so you never know what was there centuries ago.

Apparently my fathers house growing up was haunted, his sister wrote a book about it, really they were all just insane. No such thing as ghosts.

I work in Wicklow's Historic Gaol and today while doing a tour I saw a woman wearing a full lenght cloak complete with hood walk in front of another staff member. I told my colleague about this and she said she had felt a breeze when she got to where she was going.

Ive a very open mind when it comes to paranormal experiences and I look for logical explanations before I put it down to Spirit/Ghosts.
