I'm sure the point of this thread is to make it seem that people who wouldn't are uptight or body conscious, but posing nude is pointless, would have no benefit for me, and is usually done as attention seeking, so no, I wouldn't pose nude.

I have to disagree with this, as I have posed for a lot of artists in my time and attention is not something that comes into play in that field.

There are different kinds of posing nude though, for art or for sex.

And you started the thread. I'm guessing the fact that you've done this a few times for various artists is something you like people to know about you. I'm not saying you go around shouting "look at me, look at me", but I wonder was there much benefit to you apart from how it makes you feel about your self-image? (I don't mean your self-image of your naked body but your self-image as being non-uptight, free spirited etc.)

I often wonder if the people who took part in those famous photographs of hundreds of naked people in famous locations were forbidden from telling anyone that they had done it, would they still take part?

What a bitter and nonsensical little post! Do you undress in the dark or something? I knew Spencer Tunick's work for 10 years before he came to Ireland and saw it in many galleries. I participated to be part of his fantastic work and the experience was fantastic, not to tell people.

It is not something that the vast majority of people who know me know about me. What benefit does it have for me? Well being part of an art process is pretty much it.
I know a few other models and we come in lots of various guises being "being non-uptight, free spirited" is not a requirement as far as I am aware.
My self image is not something I ever needed someone elses validation for.

I spent a little more th timeinking about the question.
I still wouldn't, but the thing that surprised me was, the reason is not for shame or a lack of confidence, but rather my ego and vanity.

In other words, I found myself thinking "I don't want to run the risk of becoming someone famous or respectable or remembered and also have a naked pic doing the rounds"
I don't want to wind up being a "isn't that that guy who had a naked pic somewhere?"
so yeah, wow, there always stuff you can learn about yourself.

I have an additional question.

what if you took the social element out of it?
Would you pose nude, in public under a pseudonym and with your face not in shot?

My wining shot was headless, and no one expect me and the artist know about it.
