Do You Dissect Films?

# 1 : Wednesday 8-1-2014 @ 02:49

I'm always at it. Always finding the mistake, rolling my eyes at the made up east European country, the "that wouldn't happen", the "why would they do that?", laughing at stupid explosions, the fake talking to oneself et al

Do you dissect films or suspend reality and just watch it? Any obvious mistakes in films that bothered you?

Sometimes, I am quite good at guessing what's going to happen in Thrillers too. I get quite a bit of satisfaction from that though.

My youngest son drives us nuts during movies....He yells 'wait for it...wait for it...wait for the mistake'...Even when there is no damn mistake

Yes I love to spot the mistake, especially the wrong type of equipment in the wrong era

If a plot is needlessly jumping around or chasing a MacGuffin I will perk up and run the sliderule over it. These are usually bad movies though - I'd rather watch a good movie and let it wash over me.

She's not supposed to chop his hand off. Otherwise he would have to spend the rest of the movie looking for a surgeon to reattach it while singing My Hand Will Go On.

I found the clip:

She hits his hand with the axe and not the handcuffs.

Don't bother, Celine Dions song goes on longer than the real life event took to happen.

there's a scene in American Hustle set in 1979 where one of the characters suggest they move to Estonia or Romania. Estonia didn't exist in 1979. Ruined the film for me.
