Post That Never Arrived?

# 1 : Tuesday 14-1-2014 @ 20:21

I posted two parcels in the first week of December on different days to different destinations, one abroad and one in Ireland for Christmas and they still haven't arrived more than 5 weeks later. Is this common? Has this happened to anyone else? What can I do?

I'm waiting on something from England that was posted before the New Year.
While i understand that it is a busy time of the year i think it is fucking disgraceful.
Something i posted on the same day only arrived in England yesterday.

I'm still waiting on a bluray from Amazon US that was posted on the 11th of December. I got in touch with them today - they asked me to wait another 10 days before they requesting a refund / replacement. I did get a refund on the postage so that's something I guess.

Mind you, it's An Post that's to blame seemingly.

Ive been told by a reliable source that they take on extra staff in and around christmas and then go back to the regular staff after, resulting in a backlog of undelivered mail.

My worry is that with new mail being delivered all the time the mail i am waiting on is slowly being burried and will take longer to arrive than something posted today.

We had terrible problems in my old area with undelivered mail especially at Xmas...I was walking the dog one day and a guy who was only working Xmas shifts asked me where a house was as he couldn't find it...When I gave him directions, saying it was just on the corner he handed me the post and asked if I would drop it in!'...I gave it back and told him I would report him...

They are doing this on purpose.
We will soon be told that we have to pay a new postal tax in order to bring our postal system up to modern standards.

I'm not going to accept delivery if it does not arrive within the next few days.

How long does a human toe stay viable after amputation anyway?

No, we'll be told that is why it needs to be privatised.

I just don't get 5 weeks from one end of the country to the other in early December. Felt like a right knob asking my friend did they receive it.

I'd be furious. Have you contacted An Post to ask them what has happened?

Same thing has happened to me, A friend in the UK posted me something on the 14th December and still no sign of them???
Only problem was sent it First class with Airmail but didn't register it or put a tracking number on it... So annoying that it hasn't arrived yet, but I am not holding my breath over it I presume it lost.
Only way I found out was the person who sent it to me asked did it arrive to me (this was after Christmas!)
