Ebay, Have You Bought Or Sold Items?

# 31 : Thursday 20-2-2014 @ 21:01

I sold an item and the said amount was put into my paypal account. However the account on ebay was only opened today and was bought outright at the maximum price. I'm a little suspicious for some reason and as it's my first sale, paypal delays payment. If the person has put the money into paypal, it should be fine right?

I am sure it's fine but can't you wait and ship the item when you actually have the money?

If the money is on your Paypal account then it's paid. The buyer wouldn't be able to cancel the transaction now.

Ebay has been hacked - no financial information has been taken but members are being advised to change their passwords as a precaution.

BBC Story :

Online marketplace eBay is forcing users to change their passwords after a cyber-attack compromised its systems.

The US firm said a database had been hacked between late February and early March, and had contained encrypted passwords and other non-financial data.

The company added that it had no evidence of there being unauthorised activity on its members' accounts.

However, it said that changing the passwords was "best practice and will help enhance security for eBay users".

The California-based company has 128 million active users and accounted for $212bn (£126bn) worth of commerce on its various marketplaces and other services in 2013.

It said it would be contacting users to alert them of the issue via email, its website, adverts and social media.

A spokesman added that the firm's engineers were in the process of rolling out a feature that would oblige members to choose new passwords when they next logged in, which should be live in each of the countries eBay operated in by the end of the day.

Have you sold or bought items on this site?
I purchase things on it now and then, mostly small gifts and the like. This week I sold a 36 string harp in under two hours, I was delighted with myself altogether.

How did you find it?
Easy enough to use, love the reputation guide and the openeness of some customers.

Heard of any problems or is it easy enough?
One or two in the past. I always buy through Paypal however who are grand for repayments and seems reasnably quick at resolving disputes.

Can you edit an item for sale to get rid of the "buy it now" option? The item has already bids on it.

Sounds like you will have to delete the listing and repost it as a "buy it now" option.

If people have already bid on your item you will need to let them know you are taking down the listing and relisting it again.

No, I'm not doing that! A bit too greedy. Just thought it could be possible to get rid of the buy it now option while retaining the bidding. I don't want the 'buy it now' option.

Doesn't work like that I'm afraid.

Keep an eye on the bids thought and accept the price you want for your item in that case.
