Anglo Irish Trial

Decided to start a new thread as I think the thread "Sean Quinn, the last days of Anglo" is slightly different subject matter.

So Sean Fitzpatrick was found totally not guilty while 2 other directors were found guilty of some of the charges.

I was afraid that they would all get off, thank god, that someone has been found guilty of something relating to the Anglo Irish debacle and what it has meant for the rest of us

This bank, was there for the friends of FF/FG/Labour and these three parties are involved in everything that's wrong with this Country. So when you are voting, don't vote for these three and SF. Lets all get rid of these, out of date/ideas/policy parties and start making a change to how things are done here!

Remember the judge ordered the jury to clear SF on some charges.

His history of sentencing is colourful. http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/gardaturnedjudge-is-used-to- etc ...

its Patrick Neary and Drumm who have most of the questions to answer and Drumm should be extradited back here to Ireland to face any charges put against him. Neary should also be convicted on breach of his responsibilities as independant ombudsman who had a duty of disclosure on any aspects of the financial system that were dubious.

What were Sinn Féin charged with?
If a judge can order the jury to make a particular judgement, what is the point of the jury?
Don't you mean he urged them?

This really annoys me - each one looking after each other and gettinga away with it, and we the public have to pay the price with higher taxes for the next number of years...

An independent TD says the Dáil may have been mislead about the reasons for the liquidation of the former Anglo Irish Bank.

Catherine Murphy says new documents reveal a strained relationship between the Department of Finance and the directors of IBRC.

The documents, released under Freedom of Information, reveal tensions over the handling of the sale of Siteserv to Denis O'Brien's Millington firm.

Deputy Murphy says the Finance Minister Michael Noonan spoke highly of IBRC's managers when the bank was liquidated but the new documents suggest otherwise.

"Well I feel mislead. I think it would have been very valuable for us to know the kind of conflict there was between the minister and the department. He made great play in complimenting them," said Murphy.

"There was a lot in these documents that would make you question why he went out of his way to do that," said Murphy.

The issue has been raised in the Dáil, with Fianna Fail asking why Siteserv was sold at a loss of over €100m.

Party leader Micheál Martin says an urgent inquiry is needed to find out why IBRC sold the company at the price that it did.

"I'm asking for a full and proper inquiry to get to the bottom of this. It is important because it goes to the very heart of why the taxpayer was or is being protected or not being protected in terms of the sale of state assets," said Martin.
