The Pound Pub! Would You?

# 1 : Wednesday 14-5-2014 @ 19:20

Britain's second "pound pub" has opened in Manchester where they serve half a beer for a £1 and a pint for £1.50. I imagine they will spread pretty quickly around the UK.

Good idea? Would you go to one? or a social disaster?

I don't even like the sound of Wetherspoons so I doubt this place would float my boat.

O'riley's has pretty cheap pints and it's not exclusively frequented by scumbags. Did weatherspoons ever open over here in the end or did the vintners association block it. (edit: why did I stop midsentence)

There was a 'quids Inn' in Letterkenny that we went to years ago. A pound a drink.
Great night

yeah there are a good number of pubs doing cheaper pints up to a certain time and what have you.
You don't find larger numbers of scumbags there than anywhere else.

Maybe scumbags aren't that mobile.

O'Reillys gets a mixed crowd of office types and student types.

O Reillys was jammers at 6.30 PM yesterday, had planned to taste the pint in Mulligans but the price drew me in. I love Wetherspoons for the variety of beers amd food, prices too.

I think for £1.50 a pint, its worth a try for a pint or two but couldn't see myself going out there as for a night out.

Depends on the beer really. If it was good beer I'd go to a place like that. If the beer is piss I wouldn't bother.
