Temple Bar - What Would Improve It

# 1 : Monday 9-6-2014 @ 19:34

That is if it needs improving.

A colleague was relaying to me how tourists stopped him in Temple Bar recently.
They asked where Temple Bar was.

He told them that they were in fact in it.

He said they looked let down.

Do you think that Temple Bar needs to be changed in any way.

Dublin City Council recently looked to engage in consultation with members of the public.

I think some signage would be a good start, I know part of it is exploring but some good old fashion shopping centre signage wouldn't go a miss. My other radical idea is to turn the central bank building into a hotel. Call it number 1 templebar

We could stop men pissing randomly in public that would be great.

A halt to puking on the street having drank ones body weight in alcohol would be just delightful as well

Outlaw the chuggers whom I'm going to start beating with my briefcase in the square.

Stop restaurants and pubs blocking foot paths with tables and chairs, or as I saw recently chaise longue x2

And finally, my own personal favourite for completely random but seemingly acceptable Temple Bar conduct, the vagrant who masturbates occasionally just beside La Caverna, let's get him some help.

They are just my thoughts anyway

I like the hotel idea... Or an upmarket department store... Although all of that would have worked better in the boom...

It actually really does because it's meant to be the cultural quarter ... It's currently the nasty corner

i certainely agree about making it cheaper. the pubs are an absulote ripoff. how many times have i spoken to just arrived tourists from britain or the u.s. who are just flabergasted with the amount of euros they have just paid for there pint of guinness.
roll on the day when witherspoons open there first pub in t.b.
they will put manners on all the rip off merchants in the place.

I think what would make any part of dublin better is removing the threat of random acts of violence. I love dublin when i feel safe.

Ah yes Witherspoons with all their buying power versus the stand alone pub. You are right.

The price of the keg, the rates, huge energy costs, rising staff costs, rates, water rates, insurance ... €5 for stout is HUGE

But if the pint was cheaper, then people would drink alot more and the place would get worse, vomiting on streets, rude behavior, and maybe more fights would occur.
If these things are happening today and the pint is reguarded as been expensive, wat kind of place would it end up been if the pint was cheaper????
So be very careful what you wish for, you might end up getting it!
