What Aftershave / Cologne Do You Use?

# 1 : Wednesday 11-6-2014 @ 11:41

Aftershave is just one of those things that I rarely ever have to buy for myself - I have a collection of them from throughout the years (probably mostly expired) on a shelf in my bedroom that I've gotten as christmas / birthday gifts. At the moment I use Armani Code which I think is nice.

To be honest I like most aftershaves on men as long as it's only a squirt or two used and not a whole bottle. I remember being with someone and kissing his neck pretty much felt like making out with a Jean Paul Gautier sampler.

How do aftershaves expire? Could you give me a synopsis of the breakdown?

Maybe it doesn't it was just a throwaway comment - nothing I'm set to prove with extensive data and test tubes.

After a year they begin to off...
Tricks to keep them fresh...
Store away from direct sunlight, so leaving them on a bathroom window ledge isn't ideal..
Top tip.....Store them in the fridge...

People collect vintage aftershaves so if they are stored well, they can last for decades.

I have Hugo Boss Red, Armani He, Armani Aqua de Gio, Calvin Klein One, DKNY Homme, Davidoff Coolwater and Jean Paul Gautier homme.

What I wear depends on the occassion or how I'm feeling. I've a weakness for Armani, love Armani Ice and Armani Code. I love masculine scents that aren't too heavy.

There was one that I was given as a gift which I fell in love with.
I usually didn't/don't wear any, but this one really appealed to me. On the odd occasion that I wore some (sparingly of course) total strangers would ask what I was wearing. Straight men would stop me and ask. Women would swoon and fall in my arms.
After the first gift bottle ran out I bought myself another bottle.
That's when I found out why I never had smelled it on anyone else.
It was extremely expensive.
Which is also the reason it is no longer made, noone could afford to buy it.

It was called Portos, it was by Balenciaga.

I think I may have to use aftershave or deodorant soon as I'm beginning to get a bit smelly.

What do people use?

Think about it cologne will last which most "aftershaves" (cos it should be called perfume but it Ireland and etc) are Eau tu Toilette which are scents. And hence last very little.

You should shower as often as needed and use a strong antiperspirant before you ever hit the aftershave..
