How About Gaire Meet/ Culture/ Historical Outing

# 1 : Sunday 29-6-2014 @ 23:15

I was reading about the OPW free Wednesdays ( though the admission prices are cheap)

Would people be interested in maybe an alternative kind of meet. But of wander around followed by coffee ( maybe cake)

You'd be very lucky to get 3 people.

I thought the ghost bus needs the longer nights for the full spooky effect so maybe August or September.

Would Aras be attractive to any one of a Saturday ( also on Saturdays, The Dail) or Casino Marino, Malahide Castle, The little Museum of Dublin is quirky too for kick off

Never been up the Aras before, would love to give it a go,and Malahide Castle would be a new thing for me,haven't been there since that time in the grounds when my mate got friskey,Casino and little museo are both brilliant, worth a revisit.
Would love to do Christchurch to ring the bells, that would be top of my list.

The Casino has a paradise lost tour on at the mo. Unfortunately I haven't a clue about it, but it could be a starting point for you.

This sounds good CB. I've been meaning to start a thread for a meet up to Glasnevin Cemetary/Botanic Gardens now that they are connected.
I wouldn't really be able to make a mid-week meet cos of work but if meets are planned for the weekend I'd try and come along. I've never been to Marino Casino so that one would be good

Before pride I popped into the Hugh Lane Gallery, to use the toilet. It could be a nice Saturday meet: the gallery followed by Light lunch in the coffee shop.

And we could do the Dublin Bus tour. (The first time my sister went to some of the sights in Dublin we'd driven past for years as kids was when her own friend came to visit when she was 21.)

Or The Viking Splash.

How about coming down to visit me in work, Wicklow's Historic Gaol, I promise to only lock up those that want to be locked in a cell.

Great idea though, its amazing how when we are on holidays that we go to visit places yet when at home we don't. We have so many fantastic places here on our own doorstep.

I love history but will be a while before I'm up to a meet. Enjoy your day out.
